2014-03-20 Thread Carlos Martín Sánchez
Dear community,

As you may know if you tried the beta release, we are doing a facelift to
Sunstone. We are now improving the refresh mechanism to improve the
performance and alleviate the load Sunstone puts on OpenNebula.

To remove as many refresh calls, we are going to simplify the dashboard.
Right now it shows aggregated historic graphs for the VM network speed, and
the Host CPU and Memory.

We will change it to show only the instantaneous number of VMs in each
state, and the instantaneous cpu and memory usage. Plus the existing
storage, users, and network stats. Possibly, we will also add the current
quota usage.

The information shown by the graphs we are going to remove will be still
accessible for each VM/Host in the individual info view.

We'd appreciate your comments on what information you would like to see in
the dashboard, for both admins and regular users.

Best regards,
Carlos

Because of legacy reasons, the shutdown command is really a
shutdown+destroy. To shutdown and later boot a VM, you need to use the
'poweroff' or the 'undeploy' commands [1].

Poweroff will leave the VM in the host, so the next *boot* will be
immediate. Undeploy will move the VM back to the system datastore, and can
be *resumed* later to any of the hosts.

I was able to successfully follow the the instructions and install
Opennebula and create a VM as instructed in the quick start guide. However,
when I shutdown the VM for a while, it disappeared. How do I get it back?

I have a problem downloading images from marketplace and I think it is due
to the fact that openebula cannot interface with esxi.

I use opennebula 4.4 and esxi5.1 (fresh install)

When I try to import an image from the marketplace I get a space error.
I tryed to tell opennebula to skip free space check and then I get another
error:

ERROR Wed Jan 22 16:01:54 2014 : Error copying image in the datastore:

could someone please help me with that?

I think the problem is in the vmfs datastore configuration.

to configure opennebula I used the guide at:

http://docs.opennebula.org/stable/design_and_installation/quick_starts/qs_centos_vmware.html#qs-centos-vmware

what troubles me is that I think opennebula tries to write on
/vmfs/volumes/1 instead that /vmfs/volumes/datastore1 (on the esxi machine)

the output of onedatastore show 1 -x is:

2013-12-10 Thread Bendix Harries
Hi,

i set up opennebula several times now, but for some reason this time I can't ssh into the ttylinux vm. I tried to install noVNC, because I thought there could be a problem with the contextualization,

maybe the public IP wasn't set correctly. Because the noVNC install script is located in /usr/share/opennebula/sunstone I changed the noVNC install script to the following:

if [ -z "$ONE_LOCATION" ]; then
    _ONE_SHARE_=/usr/share/opennebula
    _ONE_PUBLIC_SUNSTONE_=/usr/lib/one/sunstone/public
    SUNSTONE_CONF=/etc/one/sunstone-server.conf
else

Otherwise there was an error during installing. After installing vnc, I was able to see the vnc icon in sunstone, but when I click it nothing happens. I think there are no errors in the sunstone.log:

Further more I am not able to ping the vm which may also be due to the fact that the contextualization is not correct. Here is the ttylinux.one file:

    root_pubkey = "id_rsa.pub",

The Vm.log is also fine I think:

We use OpenNebula with KVM as an hypervisor and the Spice protocol, and it
works quite well (with usb redirection as an added bonus).
If you virtualize windows desktops, especially Win7 or more recent, you can use
the RDP7.1 remotization protocol that works well with FreeRDP
( http://www.freerdp.com/ ).
We have several SMEs that are using this as the standard configuration, and
works quite well. For on-demand desktops you can use non-persistent images, and
a simple script that creates instances on demand by connecting directly through
OpenNebula on some external signal (for example, clicking a button).
Cheers,
Carlo Daffara

You should execute the script as "./install_novnc.sh" assuming your

Hi all

I am stuck with the vnc problem.
I installed opennebula in self contained mode at /srv/cloud/one.
I tried to install novnc at /srv/cloud/one/share $ install_novnc.sh
got error as
install_novnc.sh: command not found

I tried to ssh vm but got port 22 :connection timed out message.

I think i have to successfully ssh vm first?

However (just FYI), if you use the first release of ESXi 5.0, it will
works, probably due to an ESXi bug :)

You should look for the following installer image:

Changing the prefix of the port group name is not supported but if you
really need to change it we can tell you the places to modify it. This
will require recompiling the software.

Check the steps to configure the datastores in the ESX node [1]. Looks
like a configuration problem.

2013-02-11 Thread Gonzalo Alvarez
Hi,

We are running a project with OpenNebula (we are using the sandbox
appliance) and VMWare (ESXi 5.0) and so far we didn't have much success.
These are the issues faced so far.

Issue 1: Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that I can not
use OpenNebula with the free license of ESXi. Whenever I do it, I get the
following error:

pre: Error executing: /usr/bin/vicfg-vswitch --username=root
--password=xx --server=192.168.99.59 --add-pg one-pg-0 vSwitch0 *err:

*
*
* *So, when I switch to 'Evaluation version' everything works as
expected. Is it that supposed to be that way? Is there any other way to use
OpenNebula with the free license of the ESXi?

Issue 2: I would like to change the name of the port group that is
supposed to be created. Right now it is 'one-pg-0' as you can see on the
command above. Can that be changed?

Issue 3: Here we are really stuck. After switching to the 'Evaluation
License' and with everything properly configured (as far as I can say),
when trying to launch an instance we get the following error:

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

Humberto N. Castejon Martinez wrote on 20/09/11 17:17:

Hi,

I am running Opennebula 2.1.8. When specifying the context for a VM, if
I specify a URL in the "files" attribute, the contextualization fails.
Consider, for example, the following context:

CONTEXT=[ files="http://domain.com/test.xml"; ]

When I try to create the VM with such context, I get the following error
message:

tm_context.sh: Executed "mkdir -p /srv/cloud/one/var//106/images/isofiles".
tm_context.sh: Executed "cp -R /srv/cloud/one/var/106/context.sh
/srv/cloud/one/var//106/images/isofiles".
tm_context.sh: ERROR: Command "/usr/bin/wget -O
/srv/cloud/one/var//106/images/isofiles http://domain.com/test.xml"; failed.
as far as I understand the file (http://domain.com/test.xml) needs to be
put into isofiles dir ( /srv/cloud/one/var//106/images/isofiles) whereas
-O option for wget means that file has to be saved as one specified in
argument of -O option.

I would try to replace -O option of wget command in line
exec_and_log "$WGET -O $ISO_DIR $f"

of $ONE_LOCATION/lib/tm_commands//tm_context.sh file by -P
option i.e.

exec_and_log "$WGET -P $ISO_DIR $f"

HTH,
Nikolay.

2011-09-20 Thread Humberto N. Castejon Martinez
Hi,

I am running Opennebula 2.1.8. When specifying the context for a VM, if I
specify a URL in the "files" attribute, the contextualization fails.
Consider, for example, the following context:

CONTEXT=[ files="http://domain.com/test.xml"; ]

When I try to create the VM with such context, I get the following error
message:

tm_context.sh: Executed "mkdir -p /srv/cloud/one/var//106/images/isofiles".
tm_context.sh: Executed "cp -R /srv/cloud/one/var/106/context.sh
/srv/cloud/one/var//106/images/isofiles".
tm_context.sh: ERROR: Command "/usr/bin/wget -O
/srv/cloud/one/var//106/images/isofiles http://domain.com/test.xml"; failed.
tm_context.sh: ERROR: /srv/cloud/one/var//106/images/isofiles: Is a
directory

Error excuting image transfer script:
/srv/cloud/one/var//106/images/isofiles: Is a directory
I presume that specifying a URL in the file attribute is allowed, since
Opennebula uses "wget" to fetch the file (otherwise, if a local file is
specified, Opennebula uses "cp" to copy the file to the isofiles directory),
but the command that Opennebula runs is not correct. Is this a bug? Or am I
wrong thinking that a url can be specified?

Cheers,
Humberto
