How to customize eclipse project files with maven-eclipse-plugin

2008-07-09 Thread Julien Giovaresco

Hi everyone,

I've searched on the web and through the mailing list, but I didn't find
a way to add lines in the eclipse project files.

I'd like to add lines in 2 files :
- "org.eclipse.jdt.core.prefs" (such as
"org.eclipse.jdt.core.formatter.align_type_members_on_columns=false" )

- "org.eclipse.jdt.ui.prefs" (such as "sp_cleanup.organize_imports=true").

Is there a means to add new lines in these files or maybe tell the
plugin to use specific files ?

Thanks,

Regards

Julien

Hudson Violation Plugin

2008-07-09 Thread Dooing
Hi,

I know Hudson is not directly Maven related, but I know many of you are using
Hudson too, so maybe
someone could give me a hint (if not just ignore this mail, thank you) - I
really tried my best the damn entire day, but can't figure it out myself:

I would like to add the Notification Plugin to Hudson, without it failing the
build if to many violations occur (so far we just have way to many violations
in our code, first we have to fix them...)
Is that possible?

Also, as a first step, I would not like to add xml files to configure all those
style plugins, but I would just like to use their default settings.
Therefore, I set the number of errors for sucess to 9 and did not add any
xml files, but this keeps throwing NullPointerExceptions and such...

And how can I delete reports like pylint, fxcop, stylecop, simian from the
Notification Plugin? I installed the other reports, but I don't need pylint,
fxcop, stylecop, simian.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Re: classpath in jar manifest

2008-07-09 Thread afsilva

Hi,

It's a strange behaviour indeed.

having "Class-path", the entry is added to the manifest, but with duplicate
"Class-Path" entry.

Correcting the capitalization to "Class-Path" it works perfectly!!

thanks guys!! =)

dependencyManagement and dependence of a separate project on a core module

2008-07-09 Thread Brewster, Richard
We have a separate project that wants to use a module with jar
packaging, the core, from another project. That core module's
dependencies take their artifact versions from dependencyManagement in
its parent pom (which we understand is a good practice). When the core
is installed to the local maven repository the core pom is packaged with
it, but not the parent pom. So now it seems the versions of the core
dependencies can't be determined. We would like to know how this should
be done. Would it be to create the same dependencies (runtime) in the
new project pom? Or would it be to add dependencyManagement to that
pom? Either way seems un-maven-like, as that project seems to have to
define the transitive dependency verisions of one of its artifacts.
Maybe there is another way? During install, could the effective core
pom be packaged instead of the literal pom?

Put another way: What is the right way to depend on only one module of a
multiple module project that uses dependencyManagement?

RE: findbugs and maven2

2008-07-09 Thread Yanko, Curtis
Speaking of the reporting section, I thought a POM closer to the
project would override the settings from a parent pom. But we just ran
into an issue with cobertura where our grand-parent :-) had 1.4 but the
project parent POM had 2.0 and we were stuck on 1.4??

Does reporting not lend itself to setting in an enterprise POM?

mvn findbugs:findbugs (from

In the reporting section comes all plugins for site generation. If you
try to run findbugs directly, maybe you should add a

BTW, it works with mvn site ;-(

I add the revelant section for plugin in build section in parent POM and
now I could do mvn findbugs:findbugs .

Re: assembly plugin includes duplicates

2008-07-09 Thread Kallin Nagelberg
I noticed that archive file resolution is mentioned here:
http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-assembly-plugin/advanced-descriptor-topics.html

It says that in case file/filesets have conflicting sources only one will be
copied. It seems this isn't true for dependencies though. Is there a way to
make the same rules apply to dependencies?

copy artifacts between repositories

2008-07-09 Thread Martin Monsorno
Hi,

is there a special command for copying an artifact from one repository to
another?

Problem is: I have an artifact in my local repository (localRepo) and like to
build on another server, that has no access to the internet, but to a shared
directory, where I can build up a maven repository (sharedRepo). So how can I
put some artifacts from localRepo to sharedRepo? Copying the files and
directories is working, but leads to nasty CHECKSUM ERROR messages.

plugin attached to 'compile' phase isn't executed for multi-module project?

2008-07-09 Thread Ittay Dror

Hi,

I have a plugin that is attached to the 'compile' phase (in a parent pom).
It runs ok for a regular module. But in a multi-module project, it isn't
executed. Is that intentional? How can I make the plugin execute?

To clarify, the projects I have are:
grandpa - here the plugin is attached to the 'compile' phase. lists 'papa'
as a submodule
papa - inherits grandpa and lists 'junior' as submodule
junior - regular module. inherits papa

The plugin gets executed in 'junior' but not 'papa' or 'grandpa'

Any help is appriciated,
Ittay
