Corporate Parent POM

2009-07-30 Thread Logachandru X Rajamanickam
Hello Experts,

We have nearly 100 applications and I would like to have a central corporate
POM which is a parent to the child POMs in all applications. How should I
design a POM at the top level to govern and delegate the functionalities to the
child POMs in all the applications? Trying to find some examples on the web,
but could not find any as such. Can you please point some references to my
requirement.

Thanks Regards,

RE: Corporate Parent POM

2009-07-30 Thread Logachandru X Rajamanickam
Hi Justin,

Thanks for your input and it is very helpful in understanding how this can be
worked out. Have another question - I am having 100 applications in 100
different SVN repositories and in this case how can I refer this Corporate POM
in the parent POM of the individual applications which are residing in 100
different repositories. Can you please throw me some ideas on this aspect.

I think the best way to do this is through properties where you set a
default in the corporate POM and allow children to override it. If it
helps you, the open-source version of our corporate poms are on kenai:
http://kenai.com/projects/mtvn-master-pom/sources/source/show/trunk.
These are not identical to our internal corporate poms, but they're
reasonably close.

Errors which was resolved in JIRA: MSITE-286

Hi,

I'm using maven-2.0.8 to build up the Java code and to generate the site
out of it. The site-plugin being used while building is 2.0-beta-7 and I
could see an error trace as below in the build log. Even though it doesn't
impact the build/site generation, I would need to fix this. Having said in
MSITE-286 that 2.0-beta-6 version of maven-site-plugin fixes this, I see
the same error coming in 2.0-beta-7 which I believe is an upgraded
version.

Is assembly:assembly run at the command line?

You can use jarPath on the jar:sign goal to set the right one:
http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-jar-plugin/sign-mojo.html

If you'd like this all done in the lifecycle - you can use
assembly:single and jar:sign to the package phase.

Cheers,
Brett

2008/8/15 Ricky Clarkson [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
 Hi,

We would like to be able to sign our jar file for distribution, and have
noticed that the jar plugin has a sign task. However, this task is part
of
the package phase of the lifecycle, at which point we don't have the
right
jar file - we want to do it when assembly:assembly is executed. In
which
direction should we be looking for solving this? Forking the jar task?
 Finding another plugin?

 Thanks,
 Ricky.

How to use mvn scm:checkout using revision number

2008-07-23 Thread logachandru . x . rajamanickam
Hi,

On a command prompt using maven scm:checkout, how do we checkout the
source code from a specific revison number on the branch of a Subversion
repository?

I tried the below mentioned command and got the latest(or HEAD) from that
branch instead from the exact revision number of that branch. Would
require someone's assistance on this. Please help me in resolving this
issue.

mvn site: Parent POM's version not inherited to child POMs

2008-04-04 Thread logachandru . x . rajamanickam
When I do a mvn site or mvn clean install site, I find that the version
given in the parent POM is not getting inherited to the child poms and it
results in error as below. If I hardcode the parent POM's version in all
the child POMs, the site generation goes fine. I'm using maven-2.0.8.
Would like to know whether this problem is also associated to some other
bug or if not so how this issue can be resolved?

I have a project with several modules. All of the modules are packaged in
a
file named null-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT.

I generated the effective pom for one of the modules and got:

  artifactIdfreehost3270-proxy/artifactId

 finalName${artifactId}-1.0.0-SNAPSHOT/finalName

Given those two entries, how do I end up with null in the package name?

Re: Problem in updating SNAPSHOT from remote repo

Hi,

I tried with Maven-2.0.8, but still am getting the same result - the lower
version of the SNAPSHOT library is getting downloaded instead of the
latest one.

Moreover in the path of the library which I have deployed in our internal
repository and is referred as a dependency in my POM, I could see that the
maven-metadata.xml inside the SNAPSHOT directory has the lastUpdated tag
as lastUpdated20080215192313/lastUpdated whereas the one outside the
SNAPSHOT directory has the lastUpdated tag as
lastUpdated20070920200433/lastUpdated. For more clarity, I've put it
as below.

library-group/library-artifact/maven-metadata.xml

metadata
groupIdlibrary-group/groupId
artifactIdlibrary-artifact/artifactId
versionSNAPSHOT/version
?
versioning
?
versions
versionSNAPSHOT/version
/versions
lastUpdated20070920200433/lastUpdated
/versioning
/metadata

library-group/library-artifact/SNAPSHOT/maven-metadata.xml

metadata
groupIdlibrary-group/groupId
artifactIdlibrary-artifact/artifactId
versionSNAPSHOT/version
?
versioning
?
snapshot
timestamp20080215.192313/timestamp
buildNumber3/buildNumber
/snapshot
lastUpdated20080215192313/lastUpdated
/versioning
/metadata

I think it is pulling out the version based on the lastUpdated tag on
the maven-metadata.xml outside the SNAPSHOT directory. Can you please
suggest why the maven-metadata.xml files(inside outside SNAPSHOT
directory) are not sync with each other. Please let me know what needs to
be done for resolving this issue.

Thanks Regards,
Logu Rajamanickam

Re: Problem in updating SNAPSHOT from remote repo

There are a lot of bugs in 2.0.4 which have been resolved in later
builds. I don't know if anyone can tell you (without browsing release
notes and JIRA) if this was a bug that was posted and resolved or not.

Why don't you give 2.0.8 a try and see if it does things differently?
Or wait for 2.0.9 which should be released soonish?
