If I change my JAVA_HOME from jdk 1.3.1_07 to jdk 1.4.0 the transformation works... (maybe this can give some clue...) Just a sanity check: you changed your existing xalan dep to have the classloader dependencies, or you just added the new one? If it is all set up right, you'll have to run with -X and find out what the classpath is. There may be something else interfering.
