If you're using maven, you could follow the instructions to do it through the maven Tomcat plugin https://mkyong.com/maven/how-to-deploy-maven-based-war-file-to-tomcat/ then on netbeans deploy using Run Maven -> Goals.. -> tomcat:deploy I've achieved something similar using Ant if you're interested.
