4.1.1 update

2014-10-07 Thread Gary Shaw
Hi,

I updated my Open Office for Mac last week and now find that the I can’t do any
calculations in spreadsheets.

When I examine the contents of a cell, any coding between the digits is
invisible and if I try to change anything it says error. Or if I try to create
a new cell calculation is says error.

Please advise.

Kind regards,
Gary

Since some years I'm happily using the “OO-Writer” to produce Technical Reports

The very top of the screen that says open office is gone. I don't know what I
did. This is the bar that has Open Office at top, then File, Edit, View, etc.

Your help would be appreciated

Is it ok to download Open office 4.1.1 on my Mac software version 10.6.8?
Will I have any compatability issues since I don't have version 10.7 software?

AOO 4.1.1 requires OS X version 7 or newer. The last version to work on OS X ver. 10.6.8 is AOO
4.0.1

I also get the same set of bouncing E mail messages. I got all panicked
the first couple of times, but I wisely learned to ignre them.

It is a tad irritating that the Powers Who Have Appointed Themselves To
Be, though notified of and aware of the issue with the list management
software, have routinely ignored both the problem and the annoyance it
causes.

Sort of like ignoring the need for a reveal codes analog function in OO
Writer, instead assuming that everyone must - and will, or else! - learn
the styles system.

Apache suddenly is referring to Windows.

2014-10-07 Thread craywise

We have been using Apache office on our MAC laptop for some time now. It will
no longer open from the icon, but we can find our documents through finder.
However we can not open Apache to write a document. It is giving us a message
that says the last time you opened.office.org it unexpectedly quit while
reopening Windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?
We say dont reopen since we have not used windows on our MacBook Pro.
We do not want to chance deleting and reinstalling because we could lose our
existing documents. What do you suggest?

The program name is Apache OpenOffice (OpenOffice.app in your application
folder).

It will no longer open from the icon, but we can find our documents through finder.

Jeez!!! You should learn computer terms. Windows refers to the document window, not Microsoft
Windows.

Document are stored separately from the program. Deleting a program does not delete the
documents it created.

Cause and solution to your problem below:

You need to delete the folder org.openoffice.script.savedState. It is in the
Saved
Application State folder in your User/Library.

See this post on the user forum for detailed instructions:
   https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17t=55755#p244931

Known bug listed in the release notes, with solution for the problem.

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/AOO+4.0.1+Release+Notes#AOO4.0.1ReleaseNotes-KnownIssues

After deleting the folder you should upgrade to the latest version of Apache OpenOffice,
4.1.1. The bug that caused your problem has been fixed.

Blank extra-pages

2014-10-07 Thread Pietro Moras
Ever heard that, when dealing with long OO-documents, you can get some blank
extra-pages randomly added before some inserted .jpg images (that is, not a
precisely reproducible behavior)?
Is it a known OO-Writer's oddity? Any fixing action to suggest?
Thank you.
