This is definitely the place to ask for help. Tells us what you are
having trouble with and we will help you diagnose whether it is
something that needs to be reported in our issue tracking software or if
it is something that works differently in OpenOffice than other
comparable software.

Yes! It's a bug with open office, and I didn't find any solution
from pervious listing.
So...I'm from Israel and I have downloaded a Hebrew dictionary pack, it
worked fined for a long time, and than with out any changes on my computer
or in the software it's stopped working. I tried to delete the extension
but an eror massage appeared. I tried to re install the open office but the
problem didn't solved. This is the message that appeared

Re: Verschwundenes Open Office

2015-02-12 Thread Apo

Hallo Helga,

vorab die Standardfrage nach Betriebssystem (Windows?? Version??) und
Office-Version. Ich gehe mal von Windows aus.
Hast du Update bzw neueste Version nur runtergeladen oder auch
installiert? Das ist schon ein Unterschied.
Und hast du Update oder neueste Version von der *Original Website*
http://www.openoffice.org/de/ runtergeladen?

Desaster schon mal laufen lassen? Solltest Du unbedingt und wenn du
keinen hast, ist das unglaublich leichtsinnig. Schleunigst nachholen.

Trotzdem viel Erfolg

If you can live with a Thesaurus/Dictionary that's independent of a word
processor, get Artha. It's really very good. It might be in
your repo (if you're running Linux) or you can download a version for Windows
or Linux--just Google it. (I don't know if there's a
Mac version.)

Thesaurus is certainly working on English (UK) version, running on Xubuntu
14.10. Have you OpenOffice.org New Thesaurus checked under /Tools /Options
/Language settings : Writing Aids?

This is usually caused by corruption in the User Profile and can be
fixed by resetting the Profile. For details on doing this see the

I am going to take a leap of faith that what you are saying is that the
spell check has suddenly stopped working. If that is the case the
problem is in the user profile and no amount of un-installing and
re-installing AOO will help.

Most spell check issues result from some form of corruption in the user
profile and can be fixed by resetting the Profile. For details on doing
this see the following tutorial in the User Forum: Reset your user
profile:
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74t=12426#p58403

If this is not the issue you are having or if resetting the profile does
not help please come back with more details.

Standardformation

2015-02-12 Thread Anna Katharina Blendin

Roseanne;

The tutorial itself links you back to the location of the profile. In
the step that says Rename profile click the link in parenthesis. It will
take you to the top of the tutorial then scroll down until you see the
instructions for Mac Users. That will show you the location of the
profile. Then just rename it as specified in the original instructions.

The user library is hidden on recent versions of OS X.
Open Finder
Press and hold down the Option key
Click on Go on the menu bar, then click on Library.

The instructions were in the first post of the thread Keith gave you a link to. (Scroll up from
the post that the link opens on)

Need Help with Java with AOO4 Calc

When trying to merge cells in Spreadsheet/Calc, I am told that Java runtime is

As OpenOffice on Windows is a 32 bit application, you must install a 32 bit
Java (flagged as 586 on Java.com) and select it in OpenOffice /Tools /Options
/OpenOffice(.org) /Java.

The best selection is Java 1.7 - 1.8 will work, but needs file tweaking of
which I have no detailed knowledge.

Re: Need Help with Java with AOO4 Calc

2015-02-12 Thread Vince B.
I do seem to recall visiting the Java website and doing an update; but did not
reselect within AOO, which at present shows only one JRE listed. However, when
first getting this Win8 machine, DELL Tech Support did walk me through
installations of both a 32- bit and a 64- bit JRE. I will revisit that website
to verify that I have both still installed properly in this machine. Thanks
again for all of your time, effort, and help.
