It sounds like your "user profile" may have become corrupted. Your "user profile" is not removed when the software is uninstalled. A possible solution is to rename your "user profile". Please see: https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?p=58403 If the above does not work for you, please try and provide as many answers as you can to the information Dennis requested in another email. I seem to have lost my dictionary
It appears the dictionary has disappeared and spellcheck doesn't recognize any of the words. Is there a way I can reinstall it? Regards, Brian McMahon
RE: OpenOffice Keeps Crashing
Please provide more on what leads up to the crash. 1. How do you open Apache OpenOffice 4.1.1? 2. Do you have a working network connection at the time? 3. What is the symptom of the crash? Any messages? What were you just doing, if anything. 4. How do you get out of it? - Dennis PS: If you have not subscribed to *this* list, you might not see all suggestions and pointers from other users who volunteer here. -Original Message- From: Dandelion Steph [mailto:dandelionst...@gmail.com] Sent: Sunday, March 8, 2015 17:32 To: users@openoffice.apache.org Subject: OpenOffice Keeps Crashing OpenOffice keeps crashing after less than a minute of use. OpenOffice Keeps Crashing
OpenOffice keeps crashing after less than a minute of use. It did not always do this, for I have used it for years without any major problems. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on a 64-bit Operating System and using OpenOffice 4.1.1. I have uninstalled and re-installed OpenOffice, but it has not resolved the problem. I know there is a forum for these problems, but I do not want to register there to make only one post. I have checked the forum for a solution. While one topic seems to discuss the same problem, it seems unresolved or inapplicable for my operating system. Resolving this issue is important because I use OpenOffice everyday and have no substitute for it.

There are two things you might mean by "editing": modifying the table design (which is what you originally asked about - adding another field to an existing table) and editing the data the table contains. o To modify the table design, you can use Edit in the context (right-click) menu, but you can indeed get to the same Table Design view via Edit | Edit... . o To modify a table's data, you need Table Data View instead. You can double-click the icon, use Open in the context menu, or go to Edit | Open Database Object... . So, to edit data within a Table, use the Edit menu tab near top of screen; to edit the structure of Table, use the context- menu while Table name is highlighted. No: try what I said instead! As for many things, you can reach either function using either the main menus or the context menu. And you need an item to be highlighted in order to use the main menus but not to use the context menu: in that case it is highlighted automatically. Re: My First ooBase Database
Brian, thank you: You hit on very good points, and I do appreciate them. So, to edit data within a Table, use the Edit menu tab near top of screen; to edit the structure of Table, use the context- menu while Table name is highlighted. I am no expert at using spreadsheets either, but am finding my knowledge of spreadsheets, such as it may be, to be confusing my attempts to learn ooBase at this point! As the saying goes: Difficult to change or break old habits. ... Am presently working on learning the basic use of Forms. Difficulty is in becoming aware of the required workflow steps for using Tables and Forms in a database manager system. Challenge at this point is to get the Form to be synced with the Table, and vice versa. Have not yet grasped the concept of a "Relational Database Manager System". For now, I am trying to learn the basics, and, ultimately, have a useful end- product whenever I feel successful! Regards, Vince_B. I'm new to data base and am struggling to teach myself how to use it. I would like to participate in a community forum, so I could ask a question to help me over "humps". How can I do this please?
