The usual cure for spellcheck problems is to delete or rename your OpenOffice
user profile. If you are using Windows do this by:

Close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File Explorer. Copy and paste
%appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer Address Bar and press Enter. Delete
or Rename the "user" folder. Start OpenOffice.

This cures most spellcheck problems.

Question - Lynsey Lodge

2016-03-14 Thread Lynsey Lodge
Hello,

I love open office and was using it just fine yesterday. Today I turned on my
computer and my word document had every word underlined in red, saying that
they were all incorrect. Even words like the, a, and I. I tried uninstalling
and reinstalling, checking the language (it's correct), and I followed one of
your online forums to fix the problem.

The forum stated that for sure fix was to reinstall my user profile. I have no
idea how to do that. I need help because it's not working.

Thank-you,

Lynsey Lodge

Re: Open Office Writer UTTER , UTTER Rubbish (or not)

2016-03-14 Thread Kay Schenk
Apache OpenOffice does indeed have a perfectly functional
spell checker. And, of course, we are aware of the problems
for some users/systems with the spell checker on upgrades.
We have recently had a patch submitted and tested to correct
this problem. See the following BZ entry:

https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=126762

Hopefully, when 4.2 is released, the problem will be solved.

Dieses „Nichts“ ist unglaubwürdig, irgendetwas muss passieren (wenigstens eine
Meldung muss erfolgen), wenn Du eine Datei doppelt anklickst.

> Was muss ich tun, damit Office Writer klappt?

Du kannst entweder OpenOffice starten und von dort aus eine vorhandene Datei
öffnen, oder Du legst im Betriebssystem fest, dass gewisse Dateien stets von
OpenOffice geöffnet werden sollen.

Sylvia,

What are trying to do?

Are you trying to have a document print in Landscape instead of Portrait? This
is a function of Page Setup.

Are you trying to have text in a Calc cell rotated? This is a function of Cell
Formatting.

Are you trying to rotate text in a Draw or Impress document? This is a function
of the Formatting in a Text Box.

Please let us know what you are specifically trying to do so that we as fellow

Hello Linda,
usually you don't need OpenOffice to scan and attach your scanned documents to
an e-mail. If you have a scanner connected to your computer you should have a
software of the scanner's manufacturer for scanning documents on your computer,
too.
Using this software you can scan your documents.

You need the Migration Guide. Start at
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/OOoAuthors_User_Manual/Migration_Guide
and browse using the panel at top right. In particular, you will want
to read "General Differences in Use between OpenOffice.org and
Microsoft Office" and "Differences in Use between Writer and Word".

I trust this helps.
