U can delete from your desktop. This is possible with any program you use Msoft

I’ve just installed this software and it looks great. The installation files 
are on my desktop (the default setting) but now it’s installed can I delete 
this from the desktop or does it need to remain there for the software to work?

Openoffice does not have the compatibility for publisher files. If you need 
that you need to download Libreoffice.

During installation it gives you the options to set the openoffice programs as 
the default programs.

set this as the default by which documents open from the internet on my 
computer. As of now, when I open a file from online, the file attempts to open
