I feel sorry for you, I tried to show you that you provided incomplete or
misleading information.

As Bryan didn’t share his reply with the user community we are not aware what

When your system shut down or restart OpenOffice doesn’t have time to display
an error message neither it has the time to do save your file and do the
normal housekeeping.

> What can I do in this situation?

What you can do in this situation depend on what you have done before it has
happened.
Hopefully you have set that OpenOffice should backup your files and do an auto
recovery ever x minutes.
Go to Preferences -> Load/Save -> General to check your settings
If you have selected to make backups you find the location of the backups in
Preferences -> OpenOffice -> Paths

Not saving the document and not having the auto save function on likely
means it's impossible to recover the document.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but as a 30+ year Mac user I can't
think of anything to help you.

My computer restarted and I lost important document

2018-12-20 Thread Kate Ponomarenko

Hi. I really need your help. I was working in Open Office and didn’t save the
document. My computer restarted and now I can’s restore the information. I use
iMac. It didn’t show any error message.
What can I do in this situation? I tried to find your phone number but no luck.
Please contact me +1 917 826 9998.

Thank you

Who did inform you?
Your Microsoft docs and spreadsheets will always be recognised, the question is
will you be able to open
them with your current version of MS Office. I don’t know which version you run
on your Mac so it’s hard
to guess what the issue is.

> Will I be able to open these files in Open Office?

OpenOffice is able to open MS office word and spreadsheet, but there could be
some minor formatting issues.

Normally there options are for the whole document not just for one or more
pages.

OK selecting PREFERENCES and then APPEARANCE open a window with more options,
you don’t tell what action you took to view the choices and I can’t believe
that things are solved without any action from your side.

Only you can tell.

> or better, how can this problem be resolved??

Undo what you have done.
Alternatively you can be more specific about your Operating System and what
part of OpenOffice you have problems with.

Did you download from the official site or elsewhere? I upgraded to Mojave
and have never seen that message.

Since updating my Mac with the latest OS (Mojave) I am informed that my
Microsoft docs and spreadsheets will not be recognised after a certain
period. Will I be able to open these files in Open Office?

Thank you

You don't say what "acct" you are having problems with. If you are
talking about the Apache OpenOffice forum, if you know your username you

email aoo.forum...@gmail.com and ask for

If the username and password are for something else, that is beyond the
