My thanks to all who replied to my call for help to delete an 
annoying bar of arrows on my narrative page. I accidentally toggled 
Tools/Gallery options (I've been reminded that I'm good at this). 

Problem solved. I always appreciate your solutions and comments.

I have also had this problem, this year was the first time ever in 29 years w/ 
computers. Was working w/ someone  else in a rush working from home w/ out her 
office equipment. 

You are not alone!
Can you look through all the other places where you might have saved an earlier 
version?

I now save documents and other important files in a variety of places going 
along. Documents folder, desktop, specifically named folder for that type of 
file, project folder etc. Messy but necessary for the way I work. 

You can also set up a backup to an external hard drive/ rocket stick or dongle 
etc so as to save elsewhere than your computer incase of hard drive problems. 

Every time I save a document it gets a slightly different name. As an 
example...  name, date, v 1,2 etc. V being version for that date. Messy but 
reliable. 

You may have a slightly earlier version somewhere which would avoid you having 
to redo everything. Can you do a general search w/ slightly different names?

You can also email versions to yourself. You will then have the file in your 
email as sent & received mail boxes. Do this at the end of the day.

We have all been there & it is a hard learned lesson. Everyone has this story 
too so don’t feel to bad just deal with it for the future.

when I reopened open office, the auto recovery was unable to recover a very 
important document that I was working on and despite me saving it numerous

NumberSequenceList, das dann auf Abschnitt 6.3.7 Convertion to 
NumberSequence verweist. Und dort ist die Umwandlung von Text zu Nummer 
explizit ausgeschlossen.

open office text documents now constantly crashing

Hello

I am sending this more out of frustration as trying to compose a lengthy 
detailed difficult letter over the last few days using open office meant I 
needed to change and adjust the text in the proof stages.

Whilst it is great that there is such a program, it needs to be reliable.  Open 
office has crashed so many times during this , far more than the usual number I 
have experienced in the past, that I have had to rework many of these versions 
as the latest changes had not been captured prior to it crashing.  The restored 
version then has to be checked and I try to remember what changes I made etc. 
Then it crashes again !

So the question is whether this is suddenly something unique to my PC or an 
open office fault. If the latter should I look to another similar option if I 
can’t rely on it not crashing  and saving my recent  work to enable me to carry 
on.

Immerhin befinden wir uns hier wohl im Grenzbereich der Gültigkeit einer 
solchen statistischen Aussage und betreiben sicher eine rein akademische 
Diskussion (mea culpa). Mit größeren Datenmengen spielt das alles 
bestimmt keine Rolle mehr.

interessant, insofern es zumindest 2 Ergebnisse (4 oder 5) zu geben scheint, 
was das von Regina Gesagte unterstreicht

Dein Deutsch ist sicher besser als mein Englisch. Alles was Du geschrieben hast

Es ist wenig hilfreich hier nur einen Screenshot zu übermitteln, weil dieser 
keinerlei gesicherte Informationen über die Ursachen der Fehldarstellung gibt.
Richtig. Ich dachte ich hätte das Element abgelegt. Vielleicht geht der 
Anhang durch.


Ich kann also z.B. raten das das Kontrollkästchen "als Zeichen" verankert ist 
und deshalb der zu weite Abstand zwischen erster und zweiter Zeile resulrtiert.


Ja, als Zeichen. Umformatieren hilft da. Verankerung am Absatz. Aber 
auch dann wird die zweite Seite des Absatzes eingezogen. Seltsamerweise 
gibt es keine Möglichkeit den Umlauf dieses Elementes einzustellen.


Ich habe herumgespielt und anscheinend gibt es beim Kontrollelement kaum 
Möglichkeiten etwas einzustellen. Größe u.a. wirkt sich nur auf den 
Hintergrund aus. Den Abhak-kasten bekommt man nicht größer. Falls es da 
einen Trick gibt, würde mich das interessieren.


Kontrollelement in Kasten funkioniert und Tabelle auch.

Ich kann genausogut raten das das sichtbare 'Kontrollkästchen' Garkeines ist, 
sondern nur ein Sonderzeichen, das in größerer Schriftgr´öße formatiert ist als 
der restliche Text.
Wahrscheinlich fallen anderen noch andere Varianten ein wie es sein könnte ... 
alle sind anhand des Screenshots jedoch nicht endgültig zu belegen.


Es ist möglicherweise ein Problem beim Umwandeln des docx
Formates.  Was
kann man tun?

Die Qualität des docx-Importes in OO 'IST wie sie ist' (das gilt für alle 
Fremdformate), daran lässt sich also, seitens des Anwenders, nichts 'drehen'.

WENN Du Einfluss auf das Ursprungsdokument HÄTTEST könntest Du verschiedene 
Formatierungsvarianten durchprobieren in der Hoffnung das OO mit manchen besser 
zurewchkommt.

WENN es hingegen nur darum geht wie Du das Dokument selber in OO formatieren, 
oder nacharbeiten solltest, so gibt es sicher verschiedene Möglichkeiten, ich 
würde spontan dazu raten Kontrollkästchen und Text mittels 2-spaltiger 
('unsichtbarer') Tabelle zu layouten, kann aber nicht sagen ob das die Beste 
allere Möglichkeiten ist.
