Re: PLEASE DISCONTINUE AUTOMATIC FORMATTING
If you Google for "automatic capitalization OpenOffice" the first search result is this: *How do I stop OpenOffice.org from changing the first letter of a word to uppercase?* 1. Select Tools > AutoCorrect Options and then the Options tab. 2. Near the top of the list, uncheck the [T] box next to "Capitalize first letter of every sentence". 3. Click OK at the bottom of the dialog to apply the change. You seem to have no problems with writing in all caps, that's for sure. PLEASE DISCONTINUE AUTOMATIC FORMATTING
DEAR OPEN-OFFICE, THE AUTOMATIC FORMATTING FEATURES ON YOUR SOFTWARE *IS A NIGHTMARE FOR WRITERS!* WE DO NOT NEED IT. WE DO NOT NEED YOUR PLATFORM MAKING FORMATTING DECISIONS FOR US. I'M SURE I SPEAK FOR LOTS OF WRITERS. YOUR "DROP CAP" FEATURE KEEPS ASSERTING ITSELF INTO MY WRITING. WHY WOULD YOU MAKE SUCH A FEATURE AUTOMATIC? *DROP CAPS ARE RARELY USED! IT IS TOTALLY USELESS TO MAKE THEM AUTOMATIC!!!* __ AND WHY WOULD YOU MAKE AUTO CAPITALIZATION A FEATURE? *IF I DO NOT CAPITALIZE A LINE OR WORD, IT'S BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT IT CAPITALIZED!!!* *IT IS EXTREMELY AGGRAVATING TO STOP MY WRITING ALL THE TIME TO CORRECT YOUR AUTO FORMATTING. IT INTERFERES WITH RHYTHM AND PRODUCTIVITY AND CONSUMES MENTAL ENERGY.* *PLEASE DISCONTINUE AUTO FORMATTING. WRITERS LIKE TO DO THEIR OWN FORMATTING.* *.*

Re: OpenOffice
The password is needed to decrypt the files. A password cracker can recover the password. I did that a year or so ago when I had the same problem. Problem solved. Search for OpenOffice password cracker. You'll find several. Don't remember which I used or I would tell you. Depends on the type of passwords you're using, whether and how long before password is recovered. In my case was an alphanumeric six character password. I think it took about 10 minutes before it figured out the password. AOO Writer 4.1.10, Ubuntu 20.04 - When the Navigator is opened (View | Navigator) and then closed, Writer always crashes. This bug has been there for a long time.
