Re: copy/paste

2015-08-11 Thread Patrick Durusau

Diannia,

I haven't seen this problem but it sounds like your article is being
displayed by a plugin in your xfinity email. Copy/paste are uncertain
under those conditions.

Can you save the file and then try to open it? Might eliminate one
possible source of error.

Best of luck!

Patrick

I need help quickly if possible.

I have a 2500 word article in the body of my xfinity email. When I highlight it to copy and go to open office 4.1 then it will only

paste one page of it.

also sometimes it puts a big black square on the wording.

it is my written article and is not protected it was written in Office.

thank you.

Re: I have lost everything

2015-03-10 Thread Patrick Durusau

Christine,

You didn't say what operating system you are on but this may help if it
is Windows:

*
When you installed 4.1.1, did you install for all users or just the
current user?
If you installed for just the current user, were you logged into an
Admin account?
If that is also a Yes answer, then Windows is looking for Admin access
to the OO files.
Uninstalling 4.1.1 and then re-installing for all users resolved this
problem for me.
No guarantees that it'll work for you also, but nothing to lose by
trying (except a bit of time)

*

I found that here:
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=73427

It may also be a file permission issue as in your present login you
don't have read privileges to the files.

You will need to change those.

You're right though, an upgrade should not frighten users like that.

Hope this helps.

It never occurred to me that a program could be designed to do this.

Christine

Don't reinstall, at least not yet.

What do you mean by "cannot open documents?"

When you do file -> open, can you see the documents?

If so, what message do you get if you try to open the document?

So long as the documents are still present on your drive, there is no
reason for concern.

I would make a backup of them in any event.

Hope this helps.
