Since this is a personal file, I can't send it to you, but do you have
any comment? (It comes from a law office, and they are NOT going to
switch to OpenOffice!)

Do you have to change the file? Or just read it? One thing I do on
Windows computers is install the free Word viewer, so DOC & DOCX can be
viewed in a Microsoft product.

Don't know what's going on, but I just read a couple of the documents
in Writer 4.0.0. They came out perfectly. Just retried with 4.0.1 and
it also

opened the file. (Two different machines.)
So call off the dogs, everything seems to be working, now.

I encountered the same problem I think, for the first time after the
new version installed. It turned out that with the update, "the
graphics" option was turned off. I turned it on and the problem went
away, anyway.

So you cannot share the file with some member, that limits things a
bit... but it turns out that Microsoft is very good at copying what
others have done and they use the same container as an ODF file; a zip
container.

Save your fail as say x.zip and then see if you can look at x.zip using
your favorite zip viewer. If you cannot, then it is not a DOCX file (or
it is damaged).

Download the free MS Word viewer from MS site which will enable you to read the
file. Copy it from there and Paste it into OpenOffice if you need to edit it,
returning a .doc version.

No, nothing comes up. Just an empty page.
