Hello Rita,

Clicking on an icon in the task bar ought to the associated
application - so if you click on the OpenOffice icon in your
task bar, OpenOffice should start and present you with a few
choices (e.g., start a new document, open a recent file).

Not sure why you might want to open a New Folder? If what you
mean is creating a new folder for OpenOffice files, then this
is an operating system task. On a Mac, you would do this in a
Finder window. I'm not familiar with Windows/Linux, so I'm sorry
I can't help you there.

I hope this helps,

marina

I used to get it to work, but it doesn't work now.

I also wanted to upgrade, but Norton says the site given its unsafe. What is

Please only use http://www.openoffice.org/download to get the new
versions of Apache OpenOffice. The site will send you to sourceforge
** that is ok **.

If Norton still shoot the warning, please ignore it and continue on.

2013-06-07 Thread Shari Smith
Are you on a Windows machine? I've had this happen (running Win7), then
when I look in the folder where I was trying to add a folder I find new
folders with nothing in them. Not sure why it happens but sometimes it's a
time delay or I just start over. I don't think it's happened with AOO but
other programs as well.

As far as I know there is no New Folder function in OpenOffice.
There is however a New menu where you have the choice to Open a New
Text Document, Spreadsheet or Presentation etc.

Could you be more specific and tell us where your problem happen and
what Operating System and Version you have and

which version of OpenOffice you use.

When using Save As to save a new document or to save a current
with a different name or location, you can create a new folder to save
the document in. Perhaps this is to what the OP referred.
