The solution to this is very very simple. During installation, the package should bring up a banner that says something like: This is totally free software. If you paid for it, you have been robbed. You can download it for free from http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/files/latest/download?source=directory-featured Also, the banner must not be a script, which can be easily removed from the package.
