Unable to open doc

Hi; I recently downloaded open office and all my wps files on a memory stick 
seem to have been converted to open office,but when I try to open them, all 
that happens is the download starts again and at the end of it, I still cant 
open a file,Please help!Many thanks,

You need to install OpenOffice. If using Windows you double click on the 
downloaded file to commence the installation process.  If you have already 
installed, be aware that OpenOffice 4.x does not open wps files. You can 
convert these files to OpenOffice formats by using 
http://www.zamzar.com who offer a free online conversion service.

It is also best not to work direct to a USB stick - better to transfer files to 
the local hard disk for whatever processing they need,  One should always 
observe the USB removal protocols for the operating system in use.

OpenOffice does not support MS Works files. Either install the MS Works itself, 
or use MS Word Viewer with the Works converter installed.
