If by any chance, were these problem areas quotes from another source

If you are going to use styles in a document, you would be well
served to use Paste Special choosing Unformatted text instead of Paste.
Using Paste Special this way, what you paste will use the
Chapter_default style. You can also add some character styles from the
Styles and Formatting dialog.
One other item that many people do not recognize: The formatting
toolbar contains the font name, font size, and these icons: bold,
italic, and underlined. If you use any of these in a document, you have
hard wired it into that part of the document. You can only change any of
these settings by highlighting the area to be changed and then change
it. You can not change it using the Styles and Formatting dialog (F11
key). I personally don't use the formatting toolbar for that reason.
So, if you are going to use styles, the best way is to use the
Styles and Formatting dialog exclusively. Use Paste Special -
Unformatted text for pasting any text from another document.

Thank you so much for this reply to James Wilde. You've also solved a
problem for me. I never knew about this simple workaround. I had
installed Wine and was using Notepad to strip formatting, then pasting
it into Writer, then selecting and applying a specific style. It worked,
but this is so much simpler!

HI Joseph,

Thanks for your reply.

I tried launching OpenOffice.org after restarting with the same
non-launch. The Volume that its in is: OpenOffice.org 3.2 and it
seems locked. Everytime I restart OpenOffice.org 3.2 is gone from the
desktop and I need to reinstall it from OOo_3.2.1_MacOS_PPC_install_en-US.dmg.

Any other suggestions on how to get a successful launch?\
 Thanks,
Ernie

P.S. The disk appears locked and I don't know how to unlock it.

Ernie, there is no disk and no lock if you download OpenOffice.org from
 www.openoffice.org.
It is a free download, free to be used on as many computers as you want,

As for it seeming to launch and not actually completing, that sometimes
happens to me (I use WinXP Pro with sp/3). When I launch the taskmaster
after this happening, I see multiple instances
of soffice running. Killing these processes allows a successful launch
 of OpenOffice.

Ernie, I do not own a MAC so I cannot offer any other solution. However,
there are many users of MAC machines on the user's list, so you should
direct your query to the list rather than direct to me, which will give
those who may have insight into your problem the opportunity to reply.
with this hope I am forwarding your email to the users list
(users@openoffice.org).

I don't know whether this question has been put on earlier or not.
I want to know the location of installed add ons in open office 3.2.
The general location "
C:\Users\anubhav\AppData\Roaming\OpenOffice.org\3\user\uno_packages\cache\un
o_packages" is empty However, I have installed a number of add ons in my

Dear Anubhav:

Evidently you are using Oo on a windows (likely XP) platform. This is
typical of Windows and Oo. However many users here are using Oo with
various distributions of Linux and some on Macs.

To those it all would be very different.
As for Vista, the last time I backed up one of those, the whole thing
was automated, so I didn't even need to look. When that Laptop is
reassembled with a replacement screen, it will likely either run Fedora
14 64 bit or a multiple boot arrangement.

Cheers,

Bruce M.

[users] Open office with SAP BIW - RRMX or Bex

2010-12-07 Thread MILIND KAROOR

Dear All,

We are using SAP - BIW . In that there is a transaction called RRMX
which works to display the reports. This RRMX is linked to excel.
If we have un-installed MS office & installed Open office, then it
does not work.

Can you let me know how Open Office Calc can be linked to SAP-BIW.

Regards,

Milind Karoor
