I have been called away to take care of some urgent family matters back in the
midwest. I will be out of the office beginning 10/30/11 and expect to return
11/7/11 depending on how things work out. I will have only very limited
availability to emails and cell at this time. If you need immediate help with
an issue, please contact the main IT department at (831)775-5234 or the
operator at (831)775-5200. I will follow up on all messages once I return.

[users] Re: Attach files in .odp files

2011-11-01 Thread Hernan Saltiel
Hi Wolfram!
It works, but I need to send the other files to the receiver of the
presentation, and give him/her instructions to deposit that files in some
specific directory.
What I want to do is to have the files directly attached in the
presentation, with no need to send the files as separate objects to be
deposited in some directory, maybe the same where the file is.
Sometimes, the presentation will be opened directly from the email I send,
and this is why I need to have all in one single file.
I really don't know if this is possible in OOo, I was all the night doing
some research (aka Googling) with no luck...
Thanks a lot, and best regards,

HeCSa.

 Hi,
quite easy. You can use any graphic object (rectangle, circle etc.) or a
text. Select it, go into the context menu, select interaction and in the
following dialog select the action you want to use. If you do not want any
visible object than you can set the filling and outline of the object to
 invisible.

Hi again,
having all the files packed together is a solution that wont work that
way with OOo, I am sure. I cannot think of a solution to pack everything
up. So, sorry for this, but I'm afraid this is not possible with OOo.

you can try menu Insert Object OLE Object...
That document will be embedded inside the Impress file. Of course, you
can edit it *only* in edit mode, double-clicking in it, not while the
slideshow is running.

2011-11-01 Thread Yvonne Sinnott

Hi,
I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate and would like to have Open Office as default. I
want photos, etc to automatically open with 'office' as opposed to Windows.

Can this be done and if yes, how?

It was easy with XP.

Thanks, Yvonnne

Among the services hosted by Oracle on the legacy OOo servers are over
300 mailing lists, including the mailing list you are reading now. In
order to participate in Apache OpenOffice.org through a relevant mailing
list, you will need to resubscribe to a new list address, per the
following instructions:

   1. Send an email to *ooo-users-subscr...@incubator.apache.org*. This
should be done from the email account where you want to receive
  the list messages.
   2. This will generate a confirmation email which will be sent to your
email address. You will need to reply to the confirmation email in
order to complete your subscription to the new list.
   3. To send posts to the new list, you will mail them to the following
  address: *ooo-us...@incubator.apache.org*
   4. And if you ever want to unsubscribe to the new list, you can do so
by sending an email to: *ooo-users-unsubscr...@incubator.apache.org*

We invite and encourage you to follow the above steps and to participate
in Apache OpenOffice.org project. If you have any questions, feel free
to post as responses to this note, or send a question to
ooo-...@incubator.apache.org (you must be subscribed to the ooo-dev list
to post a question).

(To the list this time, since The Apache OpenOffice.org (Incubating)
Project Management Committee seemed to override the Reply-To header to
direct replies away from the list...)

Oh well, farewell all, since I'm unable to subscribe to the new list.

For those who care... incubator.apache.org rejects my mail due to my
ISP's SMTP server not matching the email domain's SPF records. Most
filters just assign a slightly higher spam score to mail where these
records don't match. but Apache seem to immediately reject it. I don't
have any control over the SPF records, and don't have any choice in
which SMTP server I use. (Yes, I'm sure I could sign use a webmail
account, but then I'd have to log in separately to check it, which I'd
probably hardly ever get round to doing.)

Go into the Control Panel and look for Default Programs. You can use
that to set the default application for various file types.

If you would forward the headers from your rejection directly to me then I will
see if there is any recourse at the ASF for this issue. OK?
