[users] what happened to the extensions?

2011-11-20 Thread Thomas Blasejewicz
Good evening
Today, after quite a while since the last time, I tried to access the
extensions page:
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/

Although I managed - after A LOT of trouble, to finally get there, I
don't get anywhere else
Whatever link I click:
* either I get black, white screen, or
* something that should read in English connection as been reset.

So, what happened to the extensions page?
Is there still a way in which one can access the extensions that used to
be there?

Thank you.

[users] envelopes

2011-11-20 Thread slop...@aristotle.net
I don't seem to be able to get an envelope to print. When I insert it into a
document, the envelope prints as another page, not in envelope format.

Anyone got an idea of what I'm doing wrong?

[users] Open Forge Calc Translation of Quattro Pro data files

2011-11-20 Thread Dick Bingham
Please Help : (1) I am interested in joining this effort as a USER -- Not
developer.

(2) I am searching for a way to convert ( translate) several hundred files
prepared under Quattro Pro ( dos , for windows and /or Corel version
QP10).

I am aware that it is possible to change each QPRO file to an Excel Format
by simply Opening each file and then Saving AS excel ( xls ? ).

Would this make it possible to then use Open Source Calc to add to /
delete from or modify each file.. ?

Alternatively, is there a way to convert directly ?

Note that Quattro Pro was sold by Borland to Corel and that the corel
version I have is dated 2002. ( with not much of a support base; forum etc.
)

I am and old DOS familiar programmer, but do not know PERL, C+++, Pascal,
or Fortran. Currently using Windows 7 but have access to Window XP Pro.

Any and ALL help would be welcome..
 Many Thanks .

OpenOffice.org has been given to the Apache Software Foundation by
Oracle. The present URL for OOo on Apache.org is
http://ooo-site.apache.org. From there you can click I want to do more
with Open Office to go to the extension web page. (The direct link is
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/. This is hosted by Oregon
State University. Sometimes there are difficulties reaching this web
site, and you have to try the link more than one time. (I seen reports
to this effect.
users@openoffice.org will be shut down by Oracle at some point. The
Apache mailing list taking the place of this one is:
ooo-us...@incubator.apache.org. To subscribe to the new mailing list
send an empty email to ooo-users-subscr...@incubator.apache.org. Then
reply to the confirmation email when you receive it. It is basically the
same as when you subscribed to OOo earlier.

Do not use ooo-site.apache.org. That is not the live site. That is a staging
site for conversion of the material and verification of the Apache project
authoring and content-maintenance process in anticipation of a cut-over. The
live site will continue to be whatever is at http://openoffice.org.

In any case, the extensions are still at OSU and there is no plan to change
that at this time. However, the server at OSU is over-burdened and when it
locks up for any reason, it may take a while for someone to notice and get it
going again, especially on weekends.

[users] Re: what happened to the extensions?

2011-11-20 Thread Dennis E. Hamilton
Good point, Dan.

The OpenOffice.org Community Forums and the OpenOffice.org wiki are now hosted
at ASF. They are served at their original openoffice.org live addresses
however. Although some people know their staging-site addresses, those should
not be used. Staging sites don't function fully when used apart from their
OpenOffice.org locations.

At some point, the staging ooo-site will start being the source of
OpenOffice.org content, but still at openoffice.org addresses.

Any further refactoring between the Apache OpenOffice development areas (as for
Bugzilla and the code base, already) and the user-facing/-interacting
OpenOffice.org site will happen gradually and in many cases should not involve
any disruption. I anticipate that it will be more like renovation and
remodeling, while remaining in operation.

Also, it is now better to use the ooo-us...@incubator.apache.org site to get
our attention on availability and site difficulties. Not all of them can be
handled, but it is usually possible to reach someone. That applies to the
extensions site, for example.
