[users] Comma separator in numbers
I have a simple table in Openoffice.org Writer with 9 rows. One column contains numbers. 37,543.19 4,376.52 18,210.37 53,082.91 53,923.61 161,595.39 146065 4760.32 479557.31 For some wacky reason the last three rows will not allow me to insert a comma in the thousandths place, as in the first six rows. I can type it in, but as soon as I move my cursor to a different cell, the comma disappears. Also, in row 7 it will not allow me to add the .00 at the end. The number should read146,065.00 I can not figure out what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone help? -- by grace alone, Pastor Don A. Under Format Cells Numbers tab you define how the cells are displayed. If your going to be doing calculations then they have to be numbers, if not you can define them as text. If numbers are used then you can define the details that will be displayed. The number of Decimal places, the separator, where negative numbers will be in red and so forth. It sounds like the last rows are defined incorrectly and the first rows are defined properly. Then hold the Shift key while using the Down Arrow to highlight rows seven through nine. Right click in any one of these bottom rows. Select Number format, and select the number properties you want to use. Click OK. That should do it. I do not know how the number formatting got switched for those rows. -- by grace alone, Pastor Don A.
