Dave Barton Thank you Dave Bill Milburn -Original Message- From: Dave Barton [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 13 April 2008 21:10 To: users@openoffice.org Cc: Bill Milburn Subject: Re: [users] OpenOffice downloads Original Message From: Bill Milburn [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Sun 13 Apr 2008 23:00:46 EST Hi Can you please tell me if the Open Office downloads can be separated, rather than downloading all the software. I realise this is probably a rarely asked question but I need the Impress part and do not require the other programmes. Thanks in anticipation of your reply Bill Milburn This is actually a frequently asked question. The short answer is no. The reason is that while OOo (OpenOffice.org) appears to the user as different programs (Writer, Calc, Impress, etc.), it is in fact a single program, which performs different but complimentary functions, drawing on the resources of a large common core. During the install process you can select not to install some modules, but this is not recommended, because you will loose some functionality and the saving on disk space is negligible. Hope this helps. Dave -- This is a mailing list which exists to support users of OpenOffice.org All answers are given by other users who volunteer their time.
