[Users] Node installation dialog

2013-07-22 Thread Jakub Bittner

Hello,

I have problems with installing ovirt node (2.6.1). I think, it fails
during grub install. The only ERROR in ovirt.log is Root partition not
found. I booted to live-cd and running from it fine, but I want to try
to run installation, but I dont know which command to run to install.

Do anybody know?

Thank you,
Jakub Bittner

 Subject: HELP, ISCSI Freakin!

 Hey Guys,

I am running oVirt 3.1; and I am getting the following in dmesg, and I have
pasted my VG info below. We are running iSCSI luns and this is a node
complaining in the log. Our equalogic storage was close to full; and this
started happening. I have extended it, and it is thin provisioned; but I am
not sure if a pvresize is needed. If so, can it be done while online? Trying

Looking at your VG info you have at least 450GB free on every storage domain so
free space doesn't seem like the issue.
You have real I/O errors there.
The problematic device is: /dev/mapper/36090a028108c2e4a2214151d00c9
And it probably belongs to vg: 2b93dc46-0db7-4a2a-a494-a294452c9d2f
If this device/vg is no longer relevant then run dmsetup remove
/dev/mapper/36090a028108c2e4a2214151d00c9
If that doesn't work then you can try running it with '-f' (force).
This will remove the device from the system.

If it is relevant, then you need to fix the problem and make sure the system
has access to it.

not to take down this cluster; several heavily used VMs on it. The VMs seem
to be running ok for now; but this is filling up the logs pretty quickly; as
it appears to be retrying to connections and to release the resources. All
 help is appreciated .

Thanks for all your help guys; and feel free to email me directly if I can
 provide any more info.

Hi Hans,

- Original Message -
 Hello,

I tried to move a disk from on iSCSI to an other and back again.
Finally I ended with 2 disks of the same name in a storage.
One is in stauts ok, the other in status locked. I tried to put the locked
 into status ok, and tried
to delete it (even tried to destroy the storage completely) but without
 success.

Please fine enclosed the log for removing a disk from storage

Re: [Users] ::VolumeGroupReplaceTagError::

2013-07-22 Thread Daniele Pavia

Hi Ayal,
thanks for your reply! Well, I just realized that I didn't give the
whole picture: I've got a Fed18 3.2 engine and a Fed18 host running as
SPM. I added a second Fed19 host whose log you're looking at right now.
So, yes - that's the Fed19 host trying to become SPM when the Fed18 host
goes in maintenance. As far as I understand, the error message you've
found makes me think there's something missing when the Fed19 host tries
to vgchange the tags on the storage domain's volume group:

# vgs
  VG #PV #LV #SN Attr VSize VFree
  a646d974-19be-4a8d-bf68-a3974d46a823 1 17 0 wz--n- 511.62g 473.12g
  fedora 1 3 0 wz--n- 67.50g 0

Now, if I manually run the same command on the Fed19 while it's trying
to be elected as SPM:

/usr/bin/sudo -n /sbin/lvm vgchange --config devices { preferred_names
= [\\^/dev/mapper/\\] ignore_suspended_devices=1 write_cache_state=0
disable_after_error_count=3 filter = [
\\a%360060160f4d03100dc456812fdb3e211%\\, \\r%.*%\\ ] } global {

Failed to set overridden configuration entries.
Run `vgchange --help' for more information.

Does this ring a bell?

Hello everybody,
I've been experimenting a bit with Fedora 19 + vdsm and I'm getting this
funny VolumeGroupReplaceTagError . I've got a 3.2 engine running with two
hosts, a Fed18 and a Fed19, both sporting vdsm-4.10.3-17. I can run VMs on
both hostss but I can't migrate them and, worst of them all, the engine
can't elect the Fe19 host as SPM - it just keeps trying and trying to no
avail. What's even weirder is that the Fed19's vdsm keeps complaining about
not being able to find the storage, even when VMs are up and running on the
very same host. Both hosts are accessing the same LUN via fibre channel.

here is an excerpt from the offending vdsm running a VM:

This looks like shell issues (you cannot simply copy the command from the log
and run it as it goes through some shell processing when run from python.
What version of lvm do you have on this host?

[Users] Node installation dialog

2013-07-22 Thread Jakub Bittner

Hello,

I have problems with installing ovirt node (2.6.1). I think, it fails
during grub install. The only ERROR in ovirt.log is Root partition not
found. I booted to live-cd and running from it fine, but I want to try
to run installation, but I dont know which command to run to install.

Do anybody know?

Thank you,
Jakub Bittner

Can you walk me through the process you went through to install?
Booting from cd should give you the installer. Once it installs, there
should be logs in either /var/log/ovirt*log and possibly in
/tmp/ovirt*log. If you can get those, then that will help debugging.

Thanks

Hello Mike,

last time it was little weird for me I put install cd and booted
ovirt 2.6.1 and choosed install in low graphics mode.
It went ok, i typed password and so, but it failed on 85% (I think
during grub install).
Then I switched booting mode from BIOS to UEFI, booted same iso and
strange grub dialog occurs (with only boot oVirt 3.2.1 ), so I choose it
and then the CD booted into shell with admin login.
I tryed password from failed installation and it works. Thats little
strange. That is why I want to run install dialog to get some errors log
from failed install. I have been looking on failed install logs, but
only error was like can not find root partition.

Can you try booting in EFI mode again, but choose reinstall (or simply
add reinstall to the default command line)?

[Users] oVirt 3.3 Test day [suggested 1 day delay]

2013-07-22 Thread Moran Goldboim
continuing the tradition of coordinating oVirt test days, i would like
to postpone this in a day to make sure we are ready for it.

-few features are missing test page (owners are cc'ed) [1]
-features aren't updated on release table
-general test day infra should be better arrange
-several features delivery are still pending.
-basic tests on both distros making sure delivery isn't DOA

owners, please update features/status/test pages on oVirt 3.3 release
page [1] - if N/A please mark it as such.

ACK on pushing this out. There are numerous packages that I don't have

can you boot with rootpw=hashed_passwd ?

hashed_passwd can be generated with

openssl passwd.

After you get to the login prompt, you can login as root with your
password. Then, can you capture the log files I mentioned above?
