Ubuntu packaging scripts are already in oVirt guest agent upstream. I
can build the package and put it to launchpad.net under my PPA. Once
it's ready I'll reply this mail again, then you can use apt-get to
install it. I think we can also setup an Ubuntu repository on ovirt.org
for the users. I'm now working on VDSM packaging, in a near future we
will have to find a place to host all the .deb packages. My PPA is just
a temporary place, ovirt.org is a better place.

Once we have an EL6 repo from which people can install oVirt 3.3 and an
all in one build people can test, can you post links here, please? I'd
like to try it out this week.

Also, do we have an All in One Live image for the release? Either F19 or
EL6 based.

Thanks,
Dave.

Hi Frank,
Can you attach vdsm+engine+messages logs so to better understand the issue?

The multipath and iscsi daemons shouldn't be causing you any trouble.
Also the warnings you saw from multipathd about lines 5 and 18, are just
warnings, multipath knows to ignore these lines (they are there for BC).

Thanks,
Yeela

I've submitted ovirt-guest-agent to launchpad.net. This is how you can
install it for a Ubuntu 1304(raring) guest.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:zhshzhou/vdsm-ubuntu
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ovirt-guest-agent

After install, the ovirt-guest-agent daemon is automatically started.
You can also control it using initctl start/status/stop. It If you have

for the clue. Feedback is welcome!

Backup finished and trying updates-testing didn't help (update of

BUT, ofcourse much much newer versions of qemu and libvirt are installed

If you need further testing I can go back to my backup and start

Thank you very much, I've installed OpenIPMI and configured the BMC's

not sure if it's perhaps a difference with the Hp Gen8 servers or if I

quite possible :)

Sure. I think 12.04 LTS is a good release target. I can submit a package
for it. I have a look at the exception you pasted. It looks like not
related to Ubuntu, it might related to xml character filtering and
unicode. I see some related patches in the git log. This is because I
packaged the latest upstream. Maybe Vinzenz Feenstra can help to
investigate the problem. May I know the agent version you used for RHEL
guest? I can package the same version for Ubuntu 12.04.

Sure. I think 12.04 LTS is a good release target. I can submit a package
for it. I have a look at the exception you pasted. It looks like not
related to Ubuntu, it might related to xml character filtering and
unicode. I see some related patches in the git log. This is because I
packaged the latest upstream. Maybe Vinzenz Feenstra can help to
investigate the problem. May I know the agent version you used for RHEL
guest? I can package the same version for Ubuntu 12.04.

I am using version rhevm-guest-agent-common-1.0.7-12.el6ev.noarch on
rhel 6.4 and on Fedora 19 ovirt-guest-agent-common-1.0.6-6.fc19.noarch.

Thank you.

Hello,

if I install websocket proxy and configure it for spice-html5 usage by
ovirt-setup it does not add iptables rules about opening port 6100 to
/etc/sysconfig/iptables even if I set oVirt to manage iptables. I use
centos 6.4 and oVirt 3.3RC

Yes, I will reply. The new SDK is posted. The engine build failed, so

The EL6 and F19 builds are uploaded along with the new sdk.

Also, do we have an All in One Live image for the release? Either F19 or

Re: [Users] All VMs disappeared

2013-09-04 Thread Laszlo Hornyak
Hi Frank,

I was working on some priority tasks, but I am trying to save some time to
identify the root cause of the problem this week. I do have some idea for the
reason of the error but I did not sort out which one is right and which is
wrong.

Can you help me with
- vdsm log
- engine log from startup
- the content of async_tasks table before engien startup (dump would be great)

Thank you,
Laszlo

Will the EL6 build include native (non-fuse) gluster storage support? I
believe qemu version is too old at this point.

Someone suggested building the newer version of qemu and deps and including
them in the ovirt repo for 3.3. Any plans/interest in this?

This is being investigated, but there are some concerns around
versioning and long-term consequences that need to be thought through
prior to making this decision.

[Users] OVirt-Engine 3.3 RC - Add Fedora 19 host fails

2013-09-04 Thread Markus Stockhausen
Hello,

I'm trying to add a Fedora 19 host to my newly installed ovirt engine 3.3
The ost has vdsm.x86_64 4.12.1-1.fc19 installed from the beta repos.
During the installation two interfaces are active:

Storage/NFS network:
ib0: flags=4163  mtu 2044
inet 10.10.30.1  netmask 255.255.255.0  broadcast 10.10.30.255
Infiniband hardware address can be incorrect! Please read BUGS section in
ifconfig(8).
infiniband 80:00:00:48:FE:80:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:00
txqueuelen 256  (InfiniBand)
RX packets 38899  bytes 2213697 (2.1 MiB)
RX errors 0  dropped 0  overruns 0  frame 0
TX packets 67314  bytes 15746759 (15.0 MiB)
TX errors 0  dropped 0 overruns 0  carrier 0  collisions 0

Frontend/Management network:
p49p1: flags=4163  mtu 1500
inet 192.168.10.51  netmask 255.255.255.0  broadcast 192.168.10.255
ether 00:30:48:d7:9e:c4  txqueuelen 1000  (Ethernet)
RX packets 14631  bytes 9069189 (8.6 MiB)
RX errors 0  dropped 354  overruns 0  frame 0
TX packets 6552  bytes 2348866 (2.2 MiB)
TX errors 0  dropped 0 overruns 0  carrier 0  collisions 0
device interrupt 16  memory 0xface-fad0

The installation (with IP 192.168.10.51) fails and afterwards the frontend
interface
is down. Attached the VDSM logs.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Markus

2013-09-04 Thread Einav Cohen
hi Markus,

during the ovirt 3.3 test day, there was a known issue with regards to the
ovirtmgmt network - see the 'host installation' note in the Known Issues
section in [1] - I am not sure if this issue has already been resolved or
not.
can you please follow the recommended steps in [1] and see if it helps?

Thanks,

Re: [Users] OVirt-Engine 3.3 RC - Add Fedora 19 host fails

2013-09-04 Thread Markus Stockhausen
Hello Einav,

thanks for the tip. In ovirt-engine I mapped the ovirtmgmt network to
interface p49p1 checked the save settings radiobutton and clicked ok.
The connection was lost again. Now I have:

[root@colovn1 network-scripts]# cat ifcfg-ovirtmgmt
# Generated by VDSM version 4.12.1-1.fc19
DEVICE=ovirtmgmt
ONBOOT=yes
TYPE=Bridge
DELAY=0
DEFROUTE=yes
NM_CONTROLLED=no
STP=no
BOOTPROTO=static

[root@colovn1 network-scripts]# cat ifcfg-p49p1
# Generated by VDSM version 4.12.1-1.fc19
DEVICE=p49p1
ONBOOT=yes
HWADDR=00:30:48:d7:9e:c4
BRIDGE=ovirtmgmt
MTU=1500
NM_CONTROLLED=no
STP=no

and what seems to be the old config file:

[root@colovn1 network-scripts]# cat ifcfg-enp1s0
PEERROUTES="yes"
IPV6INIT="yes"
UUID="0bd1b6df-9f88-4dcf-82af-225b14b99d67"
IPV6_PEERDNS="yes"
DEFROUTE="yes"
PEERDNS="yes"
IPV4_FAILURE_FATAL="no"
HWADDR="00:30:48:D7:9E:C4"
BOOTPROTO="none"
IPV6_DEFROUTE="yes"
IPV6_AUTOCONF="yes"
IPV6_FAILURE_FATAL="no"
IPV6_PEERROUTES="yes"
TYPE="Ethernet"
ONBOOT="yes"
NAME="enp1s0"
IPADDR="192.168.10.51"
NETMASK="255.255.255.0"
GATEWAY="192.168.10.7"
DNS1="192.168.10.15"

Afterwards I disabled Networkmanager:

[root@colovn1 network-scripts]# systemctl disable NetworkManager
[root@colovn1 network-scripts]# systemctl stop NetworkManager.service

Now I have no configuration at all. At least I can rech the
machine through the storage network. Any idea what to
try next?

Markus

hi Markus,

during the ovirt 3.3 test day, there was a known issue with regards to the
ovirtmgmt network - see the 'host installation' note in the Known Issues
section in [1] - I am not sure if this issue has already been resolved or
not.
can you please follow the recommended steps in [1] and see if it helps?

Thanks,
Einav

Re: [Users] OVirt-Engine 3.3 RC - Add Fedora 19 host fails

2013-09-04 Thread Markus Stockhausen
Some additional info:

ovirt-engine shows no information about the interface p49p1. Maybe
the problem arises because Fedora uses a ifcfg-enp1s0 and does some
aliasing.

make sure that your network service is on ("service network start")
and that it will be automatically started after reboot ("chkconfig
network on").

2013-09-04 Thread Liviu Elama
Hi all

My name is Liviu Elama and I'm from New Zealand.
My day to day job is Unix/Linux technical consultant for an outsourcing
company here in NZ.
I have around 10 years of UNIX (Solaris, AIX, RHEL,SLES) , storage, backup,
virtualization (VCP) and I'm very interested in ovirt as an alternative for
VMware and the integration with glusterfs and foreman/puppet.

Good to be here
Cheers

Re: [Users] OVirt-Engine 3.3 RC - Add Fedora 19 host fails [SOLVED]

2013-09-04 Thread Markus Stockhausen
Hello,

just in case someone else got this problem. For me it seems to be a naming
convention problem. ifcfg file names did not match the shown interfaces.
Steps to fix it included:

- rename ifcfg-enp1s0, ... scripts to real interface names ifcfg-p49p1, ...
- remove parameter NAME from these scripts
- Switch to network service

systemctl disable NetworkManager
systemctl stop NetworkManager.service
service network start
chkconfig network on

[Users] Add NFS Domain on Fedora 19 host fails (3.3 RC)

2013-09-04 Thread Markus Stockhausen
Hello,

me again. Adding a NFS Domain to the cluster fails. It looks like the error
from http://lists.ovirt.org/pipermail/users/2013-April/014080.html but I
have a Fedora 19 host and sanlock seems to be a newer version. I wanted
to restart the setup process but ovirt-engine tells me that the storage
domain already exists on the host. How can I recover from this failed
action?

Just in case you are interested in the current situation you will find the
logs attached.

Honestly, I would manage iptable on VMs by puppet or some other config
management system ;)

 I've submitted ovirt-guest-agent to launchpad.net. This is how you can
 install it for a Ubuntu 1304(raring) guest.

 sudo add-apt-repository ppa:zhshzhou/vdsm-ubuntu
 sudo apt-get update
 sudo apt-get install ovirt-guest-agent

 After install, the ovirt-guest-agent daemon is automatically started.
 You can also control it using initctl start/status/stop. It If you have
 any problems, search /var/log/ovirt-guest-agent/ovirt-guest-agent.log
 for the clue. Feedback is welcome!

I've upload ovirt-guest-agent 1.0.7 for Precise to my ppa. You can get
it from https://launchpad.net/~zhshzhou/+archive/vdsm-ubuntu/+packages
You can wget the .deb file and gdebi it.

The actual version is a bit newer than 1.0.7 because the Ubuntu
packaging scripts are introduced after 1.0.7. The agent runs
successfully on my Ubuntu 1204 guest and reports IP and file system
information correctly.

My PPA is just
 a temporary place, ovirt.org is a better place.

it's on the host, not VMs…
in default deployment mode it's the engine host

Ubuntu and SLES in the list didn't make the 3.3 branch off. It should be easy
enough to backport it to 3.3.1
As well as the guest agent .deb package. The support is there but not in the
3.3 RC build.
