We don't restart the VM in that case on purpose, since we really don't know what's the status of the VM - the host might have been just disconnected from the network while the VM is still running (and connected to the storage), so if we'll also run the VM on a different host, we'll get "split-brain". In order to restart HA VMs which were running on host that went down, you either needs to have power-management defined for that host (for automatic restart) or to trigger it manually by selecting "confirm host has been rebooted" when the host is changed to non-responsive state (and you need to have additional host which is up of course). > > How HA is enabled > what i did was while creating vm> Advanced option>High Availability>Highly > Available > > I am sure this can be a configuration error,Can some one please help me with > enabling HA. > > Please Help > > Thanks > > ___ > Devel mailing list > de...@ovirt.org > http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/devel ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users

[ovirt-users] HA not working 3.4.2
Hi i was testing HA of ovirt,(i am from Xenserver background and trying to use KVM solution in our environment) Have 2 hosts with NFS storage and i tested migration between these two hosts. On Host2 while VM was running on it, i unplugged Power cable and it took long minutes to update that VM is down, okkk now long wait.. .. . ... VM state changed to *unkown *and not booted on second Node ie Host1 its been half an hour and still the VM is not restarted What can be the issue? What should i do it make the VM in real HA so that it will be restarted on the active node. *How HA is enabled* what i did was while creating vm> Advanced option>High Availability>Highly Available I am sure this can be a configuration error,Can some one please help me with enabling HA. [ovirt-users] [RFC] oVirt All-In-One instructions for presentation?
On 06/21/2014 06:25 PM, Greg Sheremeta wrote: I'm not a feature expert, so I'm not sure what else people love and would want to see in a self-demo. Maybe Itamar has some ideas. Brian, when do you think we can have this drawn up by? I'd like to give the conference leaders our content soon so we're committed to having it in the lab. Actually, I think asking this mailing list for what they think is great to show in oVirt in such a session. changing title accordingly. Not at this time, but I will want to draw some up. A brief outline that I have in mind is: 1) Introduction to oVirt GUI 2) Setting up a VM 3) Managing Multiple VMs 4) Enable user procurement of VMs Since it's the all in one LiveUSB version, we can't show the live migration feature, which is too bad. Are there other features we should add? Okay... do we know that the set up will be? Can we just have them install some VMs on the lab machines or use the aforementioned LiveUSB sticks? Not to harp, but setting up a demo will be easier if we know what we are working with. Hi Brian, "It would be fantastic if you could rework this topic into a lab. You do not need to be present. Just put together a one or two page 'worksheet' that walks Lab attendees through oVirt. If you like, you could also sign up for an 'office hours' timeslot, where you could discuss oVirt with Lab attendees and assist them with the worksheet." So it sounds like it can be any length. This is something attendees will come into the lab and try on their own time. Hi, I submitted a tutorial proposal to LISA '14 called "Hands-on with oVirt," but it was rejected. However, we can still get oVirt in front of people if we rework it as a "lab." Basically a lab is just a one or two sheet set of instructions that would describe to someone how to test out oVirt All-In-One in the LISA lab. I know there have been demos of oVirt all-in-one at other conferences. Does anyone have a list of presentation-friendly instructions that he/she could share? Thanks! Greg PS -- Actually -- the 'demo' doesn't have to be all-in-one, but I was thinking that would be easiest given the unknown lab hardware at LISA. If the lab is very powerful, I suppose attendees could try to setup separate nodes. I'll try to find out lab details. Greg Sheremeta Red Hat, Inc. Sr. Software Engineer, RHEV Cell: 919-807-1086 gsher...@redhat.com Greg: We still may be able to help. How long of a lab would this need to be? I agree the all-in-one might be the best option; we could also use the LiveUSB version to let oVirt run without a hard install. Since the engine may be installed with DWH & reporting, we need to consider all components' needs including the DB; The application server is configured to use 1 GiB of heap by default, plus around 500 threads, which should result around 2 GiB of RSS in the worst case. To that you have to add the RSS taken by the database, the operating system, etc. Adding Jasper requirements as well: Resource Footprint Minimum Recommended Disk ~1.3 GiB 10GB free 40GB + RAM4GB 8GB + Processor 2 core minimum 2.5GHz + multi-core Pentium So the end results[1] is around the above numbers to make sure we allow this installation to work. It is possible to get along with less, if you will not install some of the components, but this is what we should expect from a standard installation.
