Hello, just add my 2ct: I did a lot of bench marking for our SAN (FC LUN's). I also need file servers for our SMB Clients. I recommend using Direct Attached LUNs for your purpose and attach them to the VMs as VirtIO-SCSI disks. You can even added them as shareable to oVirt if you deploy some kind of SAN file system (we use Quantum's StorNext). Bottom line, the implementation of VirtIO-SCSI is so well done and support in oVirt is great. I cound not see any bottlenecks in the visualization. For the foreseeable future I will not deploy bare metal file Servers again. Does direct LUN support partitions or only whole devices 2. Do you know of any open source way of making them shareable to Ovirt? My setup is simple: - HP DL380 with dual Xeon and lots of RAM. Boots from seperate disk (USB) - MSA60 with p411 attached to the HP DL380 When we grow oVirt we will grow with DL360¹s and use all shared storage from the guest fileserver on the first host. CoreOS is a linux distribution, so kernel stuff should mostly be GPLv2 and CoreOS additions are apache license 2 but if you really want to know, just check their website :) I can't report if this runs on ovirt, but I assume yes as it's designed for cloud/virtual environments. Hi, I have installed oVirt Engine Version: 3.4.2-1.el6 and created VMs. Anytime I try connecting to the console I get error cannot connect to graphics server. Are changes made to VMs in pools by the administrator persistent only for that VM or are they persistent across the pool? For example If I need to update the Pool OS via yum or windows update. I f I log on as the admin via the admin portal, spin up one of the VMs from the pool and run the updates then shut down again. [ovirt-users] Master storage domain no longer exists, how to recover?
I'm running a trial of RHEV 3.4 and decided to run through our DR plan. I have two storage domains. vm-store aws_storage_gateway vm-store is the domain which contains all local VM's which would be considered important. I must have put vm-store into maintenance mode before aws_storage_gateway which caused aws_storage_gateway to become the master domain. It also happens to be non-existant now after recovery, as the DR process is to re-create this SD with new disks as all the data is on aws anyways. Is there a method of changing the master storage domain when all domains are in maintenance mode? If I attempt to destroy it I get a UI error: Error while executing action: Cannot destroy the master Storage Domain from the Data Center without another active Storage Domain to take its place. -Either activate another Storage Domain in the Data Center, or remove the Data Center. -If you have problems with the master Data Domain, consider following the recovery process described in the documentation, or contact your system administrator. I tried to fake the storage domain by creating another one, copy in the file structure, and renaming the folder uuid and updating the meta file to match the missing SD without luck. Hi, since the bug 1093366 is evidently blocking the Hosted Engine feature, it should be added as blocker for the oVirt 3.4.3 tracker (bug 1107968). Hi all, I might be of a tangent but I tried to follow the steps in http://www.ovirt.org/User_talk:Stkeimond/Backing_Up_And_Restoring_OVirt for a backup. I get an error because of the postgres user password that I never set in the installation of oVirt (as far as I know.) Does anyone know of another way to backup or is this a bug/fault_by_me? I see there are some checks for these values at VM start, my one win8x64 vm with a SPICE console wouldn’t start because of the new default entry. Seems odd that it only partially applies at VM start, I’d expect it to be all or nothing at that state (Ie, if it only changes at device creation, why does it check at other times as well?). [ovirt-users] VDSM doesn't start in new ovirt host
Hi to all. Today i was trying to add a third host to my existing ovirt 3.4 cluster but i can't because it stays in non-responsive status. [ovirt-users] 3.5 thinks HA is already running
Trying to add new hosts to my pool, things work fine with 3.4, but 3.5
thinks that HA is already running (but it is not).

As far as I can tell, the error boils down to the following
lines from your host-deploy log:

Hi all, Following an upgrade from 3.3 to 3.4, I've been greeted with this message in /var/log/messages, on my CentOS 6.5 server.
