Hi All,

I have installed 2 (physical) Ovirt servers. Ovirtserver1 and
Ovirtserver2.

At this moment i export the VM to the NFS Export Domain on
Ovirtserver1. Detach the Export Domain and user rsync to backup the
data to the NFS Export Domain on Ovirtserver2.

In ovirtserver2 i import that domain and i can restore VM.

A lot of manuel work to backup the VM from Ovirtserver1 to Ovirtserver2.

Is there a better way to automated backup (live) VM from ovirt server1
to ovirtserver2

If you are using ovirt 3.5 you can just rsync/backup you're storage
domain and import it with its VMs it to a ovirtserver2 in case of
failure at server 1.

Might be helpful to look here as well:

Well, you can search for these messages on the net...

Are BIOS Setup settings identical between them?

In [1] you have:

virsh -r capabilities > capabilities.xml && virsh -r cpu-compare
capabilities.xml

That is, you dump capabilities to a file, then compare this file with the ones
found, which are obviously the same (ignoring potential libvirt bugs).

I suggested that instead, or in addition, you take from vdsm.log the xml of the
domain (lines 684-774 there), write that to a file, and run the above on this
file -
say you wrote to vm1.xml, run

virsh -r cpu-compare vm1.xml

2015-04-27 Thread Julián Tete
Hi Didi

Thanks for your help

It's the same hardware (IBM HS23) on all the machines (SandyBridge CPU's)

The first Host contains the Engine (It's Hosted-Engine)

The Virtual machine works on the first host but doesn't on the second. (The
State are Up in Both Hosts)

I changed the number of CPUs on the virtual machine and nothing happens.

Basic First Host Information:

http://pastebin.com/TG7LVLVs

First Host Relevant oVirt Information:

http://pastebin.com/XAdf7Mt5

I don't undestand: "try to copy/paste the generated domain xml from
vdsm.log and use that with virsh cpu-compare?"

Thanks in Advance

Re: [ovirt-users] Yum Public key for vdsm-4.16.14-0.el7.x86_64.rpm is not installed

2015-04-27 Thread Bill Dossett
The problem is that I put the

[ovirt-3.5-pre]
name=Latest oVirt 3.5 pre release
baseurl=http://resources.ovirt.org/pub/ovirt-3.5-pre/rpm/el$releasever
enabled=1
skip_if_unavailable=1
gpgcheck=1

in my yum.repos.d\ovirt-3.5.repo file... which I did as per the release
notes, but maybe I shouldn't do this on the nodes. Struggling a bit with
releases and version and things. I was only trying 3.5 RC as it may fix a
problem I encountered when trying to bond two interfaces...

Not sure if that helps anyone else or if I was just being stupid putting it
there in the first place :( but on the road again.

Thanks
Bill

Hi, sorry to bother everyone, but I am trying to add a 3rd host to my cluster
and it keeps failing with the above error.

As far as I can think, I have done this exactly the same on all three hosts and
this 3rd one is failing.

I am using the 3.5 pre release... any idea on what I might have done wrong?

Please note that no such branch has been created for Vdsm, as I
don't see a wide stream of patches targetted to 3.5.4. Yaniv would take
care to merge only 3.5.3 patches into ovirt-3.5 branch.

We'll create a z-stream branch only if a demand to merge 3.5.4 patches
arises.

Hi,
oVirt 3.5.3 branch has been created on hash:
* 31a0009 - webadmin: "Advanced Parameters" panel disappear when choosing to
use hosts provider (30 hours ago)

All patches targeted to 3.5.3 will need to be cherry-picked on the 3.5.3 branch
too.

[ovirt-users] ovirt - import detached gluter volumes

2015-04-27 Thread p...@email.cz

Hello dears,
i've got some troubles with reattaching gluster volumes with data.

1) Base on a lot of tests I decided clear oVirt database ( #
engine-cleanup ; # yum remove ovirt-engine;  # yum -y install
ovirt-engine; #  engine-setup)

2) clearing sucessfully done and start with empty oVirt envir.
3) then I added networks, nodes and make basic network adjustment = all
works fine
4) time to attach volumes/ domains with original data ( a lot of
virtuals , ISO files ,  )

So, main question is about HOWTO attach this volumes if I haven't
defined any domain and can't clearly import them ??

Current status of nodes are without glusterfs NFS mounted, but bricks are OK

[ovirt-users] Doubts about performance qcow2 and raw in newer versions of KVM

2015-04-27 Thread Tácio Andrade
Staff would like to know if anyone here in the group has done a comparison
between RAW and qcow2 discs to see if the performance loss is even as large
as speak. I ask this because I saw on the KVM project site a comparative
table, however is based on a version of qemu 2009 apparently, so I wonder
if it is still valid or hear improvements in qcow2.
http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/Qcow2

Another doubt that I have with respect to this article, which he said is
the IDE driver has outperformed virtio, the new version is so? I question
this because I always read the virtio driver is the most suitable for an
installation using KVM.

Thank you in advance for help.

[ovirt-users] Ovirt Backup Solution

2015-04-27 Thread Roy Sandbergen - Webguru
Hi All,

I have installed 2 (physical) Ovirt servers. Ovirtserver1 and Ovirtserver2.

At this moment i export the VM to the NFS Export Domain on Ovirtserver1. Detach
the Export Domain and user rsync to backup the data to the NFS Export Domain on
Ovirtserver2.

In ovirtserver2 i import that domain and i can restore VM.

A lot of manuel work to backup the VM from Ovirtserver1 to Ovirtserver2.

Is there a better way to automated backup (live) VM from ovirt server1 to
ovirtserver2

Roy

Uh this really is weird.

The situation is clear though:

Broker dies when it tries to initialize logging (missing /dev/stdout ???) Agent
dies because it can't connect to the broker.

My /dev/stdout looks like this:

lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 15 Mar 30 17:29 /dev/stdout -> /proc/self/fd/1

And /proc/self/fd/1 is obviously related to the process. But I have an idea.

Can you check whether the /proc/self/fd/1 is there? It might be missing if the
broker closed its stdout during daemonizing.

If that's the problem, he can't see that - in his shell, /proc/self is its
shell's process.

Not sure how else to check without some small patch...

Re: [ovirt-users] Hosted Engine-Setup issue additional host

2015-04-27 Thread Martin Sivak
Uh this really is weird.

The situation is clear though:

Broker dies when it tries to initialize logging (missing /dev/stdout ???)
Agent dies because it can't connect to the broker.

My /dev/stdout looks like this:

lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 15 Mar 30 17:29 /dev/stdout -> /proc/self/fd/1

And /proc/self/fd/1 is obviously related to the process. But I have an idea.

Can you check whether the /proc/self/fd/1 is there? It might be missing if
the broker closed its stdout during daemonizing.

Well, please open a BZ first with the full scenario you described above plus
engine log
To resolve your current problem, please do from database prompt

After that, please try to remove again your host from the UI

No, the host is in maintenance mode and no VM is running on this host.

But here is what has happened before:

- VM on host got unresponsive. Was unable to migrate or power off.
- Host was restarted and clicked "Confirm "Host has been rebooted"".
- Faulty VM was started on different host.
- Host was put to maintenance mode.
- Host was re-installed via Kickstart.
- Trying to remove host from Cluster (due to change in address). Doesn't work.
- Host was re-installed via oVirt web interface.
- Trying to remove host from Cluster. Doesn't work.

Kind regards

2015-04-27 Thread Sven Achtelik
Hi Did,

results are
---
[root@ovirt-node2 ~]# ls -l /dev/stdout
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 15 Apr 26 09:14 /dev/stdout -> /proc/self/fd/1
[root@ovirt-node2 ~]# echo test > /dev/stdout
test
---
Looks like everything is working fine.
