Hi Sandro,
is there a link where to find differences between RC1, RC2, RC3, RC4 in
terms of bugs fixed or supposed to be fixed in one or the other one, or new
bugs revealed in a new RC version, etc?
So that it is clear a sort of (expected) delta between them?
Thanks,
Gianluca

You can query bugzilla for "Target Release 3.6.1.3" (vs 3.6.1.2).
There are quite a few in not-really-up-to-date status though. Everything in
ON_QA or VERIFIED is in.
The automation bot we use its overly aggressive so most of bugs with "Target
Milestone 3.6.1" in MODIFIED are in as well:)

[ovirt-users] [Rest API / Python SDK] Setting VM Video Type

2015-12-11 Thread Ollie Armstrong
Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a method of settings the VM's video type to QXL from
the Python SDK, which doesn't appear to be possible in any way.
Whenever I set the graphics protocol to VNC it defaults the video type
to CIRRUS. I'd like to use QXL with VNC, which is possible to set
using the console's web UI.

Has anyone achieved this before? Using the "SPICE + VNC" option with
QXL would also be acceptable, but the API doesn't seem to accept that
value for the graphics protocol.

Cheers,
Ollie

[ovirt-users] [QE] oVirt 3.6.1 Hosted Engine test day

2015-12-11 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi,
oVirt 3.6.1 RC4 included latest bits allowing to auto import Hosted Engine
storage domain within the Engine.
In order to have a wider coverage of the Hosted Engine workflow we've
scheduled a Hosted Engine test day for next week
on Monday, December 14th.
Please join us testing Hosted Engine with oVirt 3.6.1 RC4, both on a clean
install and on an upgrade from 3.5 flow.

Thanks,

What version of the engine are you using? Can you share the script that
you are using to try to change the display type?

In version 3.6 of then engine a new "/vm/{vm:id}/graphicsconsoles"
service has been added that allows you to add/remove graphics consoles.
For example, if you want to add VNC and SPICE as protocols you can do
the following:

  # Find the VM:
  vm = api.vms.get(name="myvm")

  # Remove the current graphics consoles:
  consoles = vm.graphicsconsoles.list()
  for console in consoles:
console.delete()

  # Add new consoles:
  vm.graphicsconsoles.add(
params.GraphicsConsole(
  protocol="VNC"
)
  )
  vm.graphicsconsoles.add(
params.GraphicsConsole(
  protocol="SPICE"
)
  )

Thanks, Juan. I didn't see that method.

I've tried to use your suggested script and I get a 500 error back
from the server. The /var/log/ovirt-engine/engine.log shows the
reason to be 'Mapping exception while processing "POST" request for
path "/vms/361e911f-8d6d-479e-b399-526507f24dea/graphicsconsoles"'.
Any idea why I would be getting that?

The script I'm using is: http://ix.io/mKv

The script looks OK. Can you share the complete error from engine.log?
