[ovirt-users] Fwd: [CentOS-devel] [Cloud SIG] Rocky Milestone 2 RDO Test Days June 14-15

2018-06-07 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
RDO team is going to have a test day for Rocky Milestone 2.
I think it may be a good time for checking compatibility between oVirt and
RDO Rocky (Glance, Neutron, Cinder) and report issues if any.

Subject: [CentOS-devel] [Cloud SIG] Rocky Milestone 2 RDO Test Days June
14-15
To: centos-de...@centos.org

Who’s up for a rematch?

Rocky Milestone 2 is here and we’re ready to rumble! Join RDO [0] on June
14 &
15 for an awesome time of taking down bugs and fighting errors in the most
recent release [1].

We certainly won’t be pulling any punches.

Want to get in on the action? We’re looking for developers, users,
operators, quality engineers, writers, and, yes, YOU. If you’re reading
this, we think you’re a champion and we want your help!

We’ll have packages for the following platforms:
* RHEL 7
* CentOS 7

You’ll want a fresh install with latest updates installed so that there’s no
hard-to-reproduce interactions with other things.

We’ll be collecting feedback, writing up tickets, filing bugs, and answering
questions.

Even if you only have a few hours to spare, we’d love your help taking this
new version for a spin to work out any kinks. Not only will this help
identify
issues early in the development process, but you can be the one of the first
to cut your teeth on the latest versions of your favorite deployment methods
like TripleO, PackStack, and Kolla.

Interested? We’ll be gathering on #rdo (on Freenode IRC) for any associated
questions / discussions, and working through the “Does it work?” tests [2].

Like Rocky said, “The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows,” but with your
help, we can keep moving forward and make the RDO world better for those
around us. Hope to see you on the 14th & 15th!

[ovirt-users] oVirt Version 4.2.3.5-1.el7.centos cannot change password from user (Bad Request)

2018-06-07 Thread Alejandro Cortina
Hi there,

I have created a new user from hosted engine by:

ovirt-aaa-jdbc-tool user add test_user --attribute=description='test user'
--attribute=firstName=test_user
ovirt-aaa-jdbc-tool user password-reset test_user --password=pass:changeme

then I try to login and I get the message:

*Unable to log in because the password has expired. Change the password to
proceed. *

When I click "Change the password" the browser redirects to:

https://FQDN/ovirt-engine/sso/%s

and I get

*Bad RequestYour browser sent a request that this server could not
understand.*

Last time I tried with 4.2.1 and it was working with no issues.

Cheers,

Alex

this is typically due to using some unsupported version.
Can you include the whole qemu log and versions from both source and
destination hypervisors, and verify there were no updates run while that VM was
running?

both hosts are exactly the same?
When was the original VM started, did you make any upgrades while it was

Ok, Nir thanks for the update.

I have one more identical host (using the same hardware), let me install oVirt
node & verify that I'm seeing the same behavior.
I will update you before I file the bug.

It seems that it ignores the blacklist during boot, and once the map
is used, it cannot be removed.

Can you file a bug?

Please attach all the file you sent in this thread, and log from the last
boot you
attach here.

[ovirt-users] ovirt and gluster network config

2018-06-07 Thread william . dossett
Hi,

I have my 5 ovirt nodes up and running and starting to move forward with actual
ovirt and gluster setup.

I am using gdeploy for deployment.

the play book fails saying /dev/sdb is blacklisted by filter? I am following
the blog up and running on the ovirt site.

It mentioned adding

# disable multipath
[script2]
action=execute
file=/usr/share/ansible/gdeploy/scripts/disable-multipath.sh

to get it to work, but it does not work. The script 3 section after this does
have the

file=/usr/share/gdeploy/scripts/blacklist_all_disks.sh

in it.

What can I do to get past this?

Also not sure if I should be modifying the script/play as I don't really want
an arbitrator host - if I have 5 real hosts all with the same storage in them?
(10TB in each) and it only account for 3 hosts, can I add the other two later
or should I try to modify the playbook to include these initially? I am sure I
will be setting this up several times before I get it right, but at the moment
I can't get past this error. Any help would really be appreciated!

Thanks

[ovirt-users] The equivalence of the DiskAttachment ID and its relevant Disk ID should be intuitively documented.

2018-06-07 Thread Joey Ma
Hi all,

In these days, I was struggling to find the relationship among
vm/disk/disk-attachment. I just found that the IDs of DiskAttachment and
relevant Disk are the same, in the mapping phrase by [1].

This is a extremely helpful for connecting the disk and the
disk-attachment, especially when updating a disk by its relevant
disk-attachment instance. Nevertheless it's missing in the API document
[2]. Adding a intuitive hint would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Based on your next email, looks ok.

Next step:

1. Change the blacklist to:

blacklist {
   wwid INTEL_SSDSCKHB120G4_BTWM65160025120B
   wwid eui.0025385171b04d62
   wwid SAMSUNG_MZ7GE960HMHP-000AZ_S1P8NYAG123827
}

2. Update initrd

dracut --force --add multipath --include /etc/multipath /etc/multipath

3. Reboot

The manual suggest to remove the multiapth device using
multipath -f INTEL_SSDSCKHB120G4_BTWM65160025120B
but I don't think this can work when your root file system
is on top of logical volumes using this device.

If multipath still grabs the device, we will need output of "journalctl -b"
to understand what happened during early boot process.

Is this an ovs cluster?
Connecting ovn networks to physcial networks only works for ovs based

The ovn network is connected to a physical network: ovirtmgmt
Is ovirtmgmt an ovs network?

Thank you for fast response. Ok, for example, i gave subnet to my ovn
network 172.20.139.108/30 and my vm get ip 172.20.139.110. After that
i tick connect to physical network ovirtmgmt(all vm's in this network has
ip 172.20.139.x). I don't have ping between vm 172.20.139.110(from ovn
network with subnet) and 172.20.139.x (from physical network ovirtmgmt).
What shoul i do to get communication between them?

Please check

to make sure you configured the blacklist correctly.

If does not work, please add more info:

You should not assign a subnet to external provider network connected
to physical network. I think both physical and OVN DHCP servers will work,
but I'm not sure which one has priority.

If you have DHCP server running on your ovirtmgmt network, just create
a network on external provider and connect it to the ovirtmgmt. Then VMs
connected to this network should obtain IP from ovirtmgmt DHCP server and
they should be able to ping one another or ovirtmgmt interface.

Hope that makes it a bit more clear.

[ovirt-users] oVirt web console for VM

2018-06-07 Thread Hari Prasanth Loganathan
Hi Team,

I am able to

1) Create a VM
2) Create and Attach DISK and NIC
3) I powered on the VM but I am yet to provide the network configuration
for it. So there is no IP assigned, It is in Green color with UP arrow.

Now I need to connect to this virtual machine and login using Guest
console, I saw a documentation :
https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/how-to/guest-console/connect-to-guest-display/

But it is not clear.

*Use Case needed : *

1) oVirt is running in centOS say running in 172.1.1.1
2) I have a Ubuntu machine say 192.2.2.2, I used the Firefox browser to
login to oVirt engine (172.1.1.1)
3) Since my VM is powered ON, I need to use the console to login from my
browser.

Please let me know the steps. If you need anymore information, please let
me know.

Thanks,
Hari

[ovirt-users] Re: oVirt 4.1 ETL service sampling has encounterd an error

2018-06-07 Thread Staniforth, Paul
Thanks Shirly,

As we are not planning to move to 4.2 until next month I
have applied this update, it's actually in

/usr/share/ovirt-engine-dwh/dbscripts/upgrade/

and it seems to working O.K. since yesterday.

Regards,

   Paul S.

In that case there is a workaround but I would recommend upgrading to 4.2 if
you can.

I did not test the workaround:

You can add to /usr/share/ovirt-engine-dwh/packaging/dbscripts/upgrade/
a file called

04_01_0025__updated_vm_interface_history_id_to_bigint.sql

with the same content as in my patch:
_

-- Update vm_interface_* statistics table history_id to bigint

SELECT fn_db_change_column_type('vm_interface_daily_history', 'history_id',
'integer', 'bigint');
SELECT fn_db_change_column_type('vm_interface_hourly_history', 'history_id',
'integer', 'bigint');
SELECT fn_db_change_column_type('vm_interface_samples_history', 'history_id',
'integer', 'bigint');

_

and run engine-setup

engine-setup drops all views, makes the updates to the db and recreates the
views.

Thanks Shirly,

unfortunately Microsoft sent your reply to my Junk Email
folder so I have only noticed it today.

Is there any instructions on how to run the script? I can't find any tables or
views with the vm_interface_daily_history, etc columns.

I'm not a database expert.

Hi,

This was fixed in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1541924
in version 4.2.2.

I believe you can update manually the history_id field in tables -
vm_interface_daily_history, vm_interface_hourly_history,
vm_interface_samples_history
from integer to bigint and it should fix the issue, but I did not test on 4.1.

like in:
https://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/87139/4/packaging/dbscripts/upgrade/04_02_0020__updated_vm_interface_history_id_to_bigint.sql

Best,

Error message of libvirtd when the VM machine fail to start:

Hi,

I have made two scripts to help importing VMs from XenServer to oVirt.

Maybe they will be useful to someone.

Without knowing more about your setup, I suspect you might be using
unsupported tunables which are preventing the Hammer clients from
connecting to the Luminous cluster. Note that upstream, we really only
test client/server backwards compatibility between N - 2 releases (it
was N - 1) [1]. Therefore, in a perfect world, you should be selecting
the best Ceph client repo to match your Ceph cluster version.

There is an open BZ against RHEL 7 to upgrade the base Ceph client
RPMs to a more recent version [2], but in the interim if you need
newer client RPMs for CentOS 7, you will need to get them from
upstream Ceph by picking the appropriate release repository.

Simply configuring a static IPv4 address from an unused subnet on the untagged

I just opened https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1586280

Ok, I removed all bridges, so IPs are configured on bond0.id, added dummy IP
for bond0, flushed iptables. And it works. So thank you for your help!

One last question - does the bond0 IP is still needed or it's just issue during
install and now we can delete it?

[ovirt-users] After minor upgrade oVirt Node to 4.2.3 can't start Virtual machine

2018-06-07 Thread stefan . palecek
Dear all,

after upgrade oVirt Node to latest 4.2.3 I can't start any virtual machine
with network interface. VM machine without network interface starts normally.
Exactly the same situation is on freshly installed oVirt node machine with
different hardware. I use openvswitch on both machines.
After some searching I found out that there are the same version of
openvswitch(2.9.0-3) on old and new version of oVirt node but different
versions of libvirt(3.9.0-14 vs 3.2.0-14)

Error message of libvirtd when the VM machine fail to start:
VM OPNsense is down with error. Exit message: Unable to add bridge ovirtmgmt
port vnet0: Operation not supported.

Any suggestions?
Thank you.

[ovirt-users] Re: Ovirt node 4.2.1.1 patch/upgrade?

2018-06-07 Thread Pavol Brilla
Hi

ovirt-node is taking this from ovirt.org:
The oVirt Node sub-project is geared towards building a small, robust
operating system image.

So correct way to upgrade it is indeed - from engine `Check for upgrades`
and update directly from engine.

As there were issues with check upgrades ( will need to go through bz to
find numbers ), best option is now for you:
- put host to maintanance
- yum update
- ovirt-node-ng-image-update will be installed and booted
- after host is started back, activate it back in engine

Do not allow base repos on ovirt-node, as it is image based and it contains
everything it needs in ovirt-node-ng-image-update package.

I have the same issue since some months. Since cloud-init doesn't sees
any configuration, applies the default, which is to use dhcp.

I don't remember if it is a bug of cloud-init or a misconfiguration,
but now i solved removing cloud-init package after the first boot.

In case you want redeploying, you can keep cloud-init and disable its
work by disabling the service:

touch /etc/cloud/cloud-init.disabled

[ovirt-users] Re: Asking about snapshot concept

2018-06-07 Thread Terry hey
Hi Eyal,

Thank you so much for answering me about snapshot concept. I am sorry for
my late reply.

Do you mean that when we create a new COW layer, we not only need to
preserve the original disk, but we also need to mark the difference.
Therefore, the disk format must be changed to be sparse?

Also, what happen if we delete the snapshot. What we write in the new COW
layer will be written into original layer?

Regards
Terry
