[ovirt-users] aquantia 107 (10Gbase-T NIC) driver for oVirt node-ng?

2018-10-18 Thread Edward Berger
I'm not sure where to send a request for including the current Aquantia 107
(10GbaseT nic) driver to be included in the ovirt-node-ng image. I don't
see a centos RPM for kmod-redhat-atlantic, apparently there's a scientific
linux rpm available for download.

The problem started when sanlock could not renew storage leases held by
some processes:

Oct 16 11:01:46 victor sanlock[904]: 2018-10-16 11:01:46 2945585 [4167]: s3
delta_renew read timeout 10 sec offset 0

Oct 16 11:01:46 victor sanlock[904]: 2018-10-16 11:01:46 2945585 [4167]: s3
renewal error -202 delta_length 25 last_success 2945539

After 80 seconds, the vms are terminated by sanlock:

Oct 16 11:02:19 victor sanlock[904]: 2018-10-16 11:02:18 2945617 [904]: s1
check_our_lease failed 80
Oct 16 11:02:19 victor sanlock[904]: 2018-10-16 11:02:18 2945617 [904]: s1
kill 13823 sig 15 count 1

But process 13823 cannot be killed, since it is blocked on storage, so
sanlock send many more
TERM signals:

Oct 16 11:02:33 victor sanlock[904]: 2018-10-16 11:02:33 2945633 [904]: s1
kill 13823 sig 15 count 17

The VM finally dies after 17 retries:

Oct 16 11:02:33 victor sanlock[904]: 2018-10-16 11:02:33 2945633 [904]:
dead 13823 ci 10 count 17

We can see the same flow for other processes (HA VMs?)

This allows the system to start the HA VM
on another host, which is what we see in the events log in the first
message.

Trying to restart VM npi2 on Host victor.local.systea.fr
16 oct. 2018 11:02:33
Highly Available VM npi2 failed. It will be restarted automatically.
16 oct. 2018 11:02:33
VM npi2 is down with error. Exit message: VM has been terminated on the
host.

If the VMs were not started successfully on the other hosts, maybe the
storage domain
used for VM lease is not accessible?

It is recommended to choose the same storage domain used by the other VM
disks for
the VM lease.

Also check that all storage domains are accessible - if they are not you
will have warnings
in /var/log/vdsm/vdsm.log.

[ovirt-users] Re: Cannot create VMs

2018-10-18 Thread Albl, Oliver
Hi all,

resending this message as it came in empty:

I run a small oVirt installation where I automatically create VMs, run some
workload and delete them again. Today I ran into a situation where I could not
create VMs anymore. Messages were:

Failed to create VM (User: …).
Failed to complete VM creation.

Any ideas about the cause for this? I filed a BZ
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1640797) containing the engine
logs.

I am on oVirt 4.2.6.4-1.el7 on CentOS 7.5

Viele Grüße,
Oliver

Normal best practice is to use the storage's RAID. Not saying there
aren't cases for when you'd want to create a RAID on virtual disks, but
performance usually wouldn't be one of the reasons.

You'll get better features usually from the HW RAID with regards to
failure detection and automatic rebuild.

Now...after setting storage up using your storage solution's RAID,
anything on top of that is totally up to you.

With that said, I've never used the H330 RAID controller.

[ovirt-users] PythonSDK 4.2.8 issues updating cdrom iso of a vm.

2018-10-18 Thread Brad Riemann
Hello,

I am currently fighting with attaching an iso to a vm's cdrom. There are two
isos in the iso domain (A-Iso-Installer.iso and The-Iso-Installer.iso for our
purposes), I can confirm the iso domain is attached to the cluster and
everything is green. When attempting to attach the iso to the vm, I can see the
pre and post output of the "/ovirt-engine/api/vms//cdroms" request, it
shows the file id changing according to what the iso domain has available.
However, whenever i attempt to power on the vm, from either the api or through
the web interface, I get "Invalid ISO image path". Editing the vm through the
web interface reveals that the "Attach CD" dropdown has selected the first iso
("A-Iso-Installer.iso", and I am trying to use the second). I ran a list
against the cdrom service, found no issues with the xml that was returned. I
confirmed that listing out available isos on the iso domain results in the
expected id that I matched in the cdrom service of the vm from the api. If I ch
oose the correct iso from the gui and save, the output looks the same as the
api listing.

Before and After gist:
https://gist.github.com/robotman321/909255cbdc36fa62b730a953807f7397

The code im using to set the cdrom is the following:
https://gist.github.com/robotman321/35617c96b96b329d5d1476e015aa9898

I did note that when i would run the update api code, it does change SOMETHING
as when i go into the web interface the "Attach CD" value has gone back to the
top value in the dropdown (the wrong iso).

Has anyone seen this before, please tell me it's right in front of me, any help
is appreciated.

Thank you,
Brad

[ovirt-users] Problems with quotas

2018-10-18 Thread siovelrm
Hi, I need to use Ovirt's quotas system. I have approximately 50 users that use
my Ovirt and they can create virtual machines only from templates, in total
there are 20 templates. I have assigned a quota for each user, until here there
are no problems. The problem is that in order for the user's quota to be used
for each template, it must be linked to a specific quota, but only one. The
only solution I see would be to have 20 templates for each user so it would be
a total of 50X20 templates = 1000 templates and if a new user arrives 20
templates more and so on, which would not be a good solution. I think evidently
or that I have not understood well how Ovirt's system of quotas works or maybe
my problem can be solved in another way. Please I need your help

see latency on it (configuration described bellow).
Second question : what append that force some VMs (not all, and not and the

Thanks

Configuration
2 DELL R620 as ovirt hosts (4.2.8-2) with hosted-engine, also members of a
gluster 3.12.13-1 cluster with an arbiter (1 DELL R310, non-ovirt). The DATAs
and ENGINE storages are on gluster volumes. Around 11am, I do not see any
specific messages in glusterd.log or glfsheal-*.log. Gluster is on a separate
network (2*1G bond mode 4=aggegation) than ovirmgmt (2*1G bond mode 1=failover).

[ovirt-users] Re: Network configuration for self-hosted engine deployement oVirt node 4.2

2018-10-18 Thread Arnaud DEBEC
I did not try to reproduce the issue after it worked. As far as I remember:
1. I changed the bond0 policy from Active Backup to XOR (profile name: bond0,
device: bond0) with eno1 and eno5 (ovirtmgmt).
2. I changed the bond1 policy from Round-Robin to XOR (profile name: bond1,
device: bond1) with eno2, eno3, eno6 and eno7 (iSCSI).

[ovirt-users] Re: Moving an ISO domain from one storage domain to another

you are right.
I misunderstood it, because when I reported the problem and during my tests
I had broken links in the file system of the host, like I wrote here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1588400#c3
and I assumed there was no real lvm mapping between the presumed uploaded
iso and a real device...
I have just tried on oVirt 4.2.6.4 to upload a CentOS 6.2 boot iso on an
iSCSI based SD and then start a VM with run once and it was indeed able to
start.
Thanks.
But so where can I find the device on storage domain that maps to the ISO
file I uploaded?

The problem still remains, as you noted, when in need to attach CD to
running VMs and also in situations where during install you have to swap
CD, like reported for Windows and .vfd files inside the same bugzilla here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1588400#c9

I put my vote there. Thanks
