[ovirt-users] Re: After adding a disk via GUI the VM does not start anymore

2018-11-20 Thread Florian Schmid
Hi,

we have the same issue since oVirt 4.0.
Because we need always several disks, we have the boot disk as virtio and all
others as virtio-scsi.
With this approach, boot disk is always vda and all other disks are then sda,
sdb and so on. They change nearly every time, we reboot.

In Linux, you can mount also disks not only by /dev/sdX, you can also mount
them via UUID of the disk or by label, ... With this, the disks can always be
correctly identified and mounted.
Here an example:
LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs   /ext4   defaults0 0
/dev/disk/by-label/log  /var/logautodefaults,comment=cloudconfig
0   0
/dev/disk/by-label/tmp /tmp ext4defaults0 0

Betreff: [ovirt-users] After adding a disk via GUI the VM does not start anymore

Hi,

when I add a disk to a debian 9 VM the VM cannot boot anymore. The VM is
stating that /dev/sda1 cannot be found anymore. When I remove the added disk
everything works as before.
Could someone please give me a hint what went wrong ?

The hypervisor host is a Centos 7.5 system.

ovirt-wgt is a project for building the oVirt Guest Tools ISO and its
wrapping RPM. It contains VirtIO Windows drivers, SPICE drivers, QEMU Guest
Agent and oVirt Guest Agent.

You don't really need to, but if you want to do that:
$ sudo yum install
https://resources.ovirt.org/pub/yum-repo/ovirt-release42.rpm
$ git clone https://gerrit.ovirt.org/ovirt-wgt
$ cd ovirt-wgt
$ yum install `cat automation/build-artifacts.packages`
$ automation/build-artifacts.sh

should do the build.

Current builds are available:

[ovirt-users] About Windows guest agent

2018-11-20 Thread Jingjie Jiang

Hi,

I am new in oVirt and I'd like to get the clarification about the
packages which support the function of Window guest agent from 4.2
release and how to build it.

I looked through the document from ovirt.org, such as

https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/internal/guest-agent/guest-agent-for-windows/

It mentioned:

/With the release of oVirt 3.5 we have introduced the oVirt WGT (Windows
Guest Tools)./

//

/The oVirt WGT provides an ISO with all the tools and drivers one needs
to install on a Windows VM, with an easy to use installer to install it
all in one step./

//

/So manual compilation and installation of oVirt Guest Agent is no
longer necessary./

//

/The oVirt WGT ISO is included in
//ovirt-guest-tools-iso-3.5-7.noarch.rpm
//package./

Now, ovirt-guest-tools-iso is up to 4.2.4. I found the src rpm from
https://resources.ovirt.org/pub/ovirt-4.2/rpm/el7/SRPMS/ovirt-guest-tools-iso-4.2-4.el7.src.rpm,
but I could not find ovirt-guest-tools-iso from github, only found
ovirt-wgt.

After clone the ovirt-wgt, I got the SPICE-tools-0.141.iso built.

My question is :

1. Is ovirt-wgt used for Windows guest?

2. If so, how can I build ovirt-guest-tools-iso package or
ovirt-tools-setup.iso

Thanks,

Jingjie

When the vm does not boot, can extract the vm xml and post here?

You can find it in vdsm log, or use virsh:

1. Find the vm

virsh -r list

2. Get the xml

virsh -r dumpxml

[ovirt-users] Call for translators: Russian and Czech

2018-11-20 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi,
one of the beta release criteria is that supported languages have
translations at least at 70% of completion. According to zanata[1] we
currently have

Chinese (Simplified, China) (zh-Hans-CN): 95.1%
Czech (cs): 33.97%
French (fr) 95.1%
German (de) 95.1%
Italian (it) 85.84%
Japanese (ja): 95.1%
Korean (ko) 95.1%
Portuguese (Brazil) (pt-BR): 95.1%
Russian (ru): 25.17%
Spanish (es): 95.1%

So, right now Czech and Russian are not meeting release criteria for beta
release and are candidate to be disabled in 4.3 unless translators pushes
the missing parts.

The drag-and-drop support is only from Local machine to VM.
Remote-viewer copies the file and send it to the spice-vdagent
(guest agent).

> Maybe something else need to do?

Nothing can be done for this feature at this moment.

You can try another feature, shared folder, which uses WebDAV.
Look for 'Folder sharing' at

https://www.spice-space.org/spice-user-manual.html

That could happen for different reasons.
- Is your client running on windows or linux machine?
- Is the VM configured for USB? Look for 'USB redirection' in the
  link above.

Victor

the initial deployment from the cockpit console using ansible.

NODE1
  - /dev/sda   (OS)
  - /dev/sdb   ( Gluster Bricks )
   * /gluster_bricks/engine/engine/
   * /gluster_bricks/data/data/
   * /gluster_bricks/vmstore/vmstore/

NODE2 and NODE3 with a similar setup.

There is a mishap that /dev/sdb on NODE2 totally got crashed and now there
is nothing inside. However, I have created similar directories after
mounting it back i.e.,

   * /gluster_bricks/engine/engine/
   * /gluster_bricks/data/data/
   * /gluster_bricks/vmstore/vmstore/
but it is not yet recovered.

Can someone please suggest the steps to recover the setup?

I have tried the below workaround but it doesn't help.

[ovirt-users] Cloud-init reset network configuration to default dhcp after reboot and regular run

2018-11-20 Thread Mike Lykov

Hi All!

I'm trying to configure network in VMs created from template, and see
strange behaviour from cloud-init.

cloud-init installed and enabled in template.
ver cloud-init-0.7.9-24.el7.centos.1.x86_64
guest Centos 7.5
ovirt 4.2.7 from ovirt-releases-42-pre repo

1. I use "run once" with initial run - use cloud-init - networks
 in-guest net iface : eth0
add new - static
enter address, mask, gw
ipv6 none

Run (once) and cloud-init configure ifcfg-eth0 for that address
(successfully).

2. I shutdown that VM and use "Run" (regular) without "use cloud init"
in VM properties, awaiting that above configurations are saved (and
booted with it).

But because "use cloud init" not checked, and cloud-init service
enabled, it start, cannot find datasource and drop configuration to
default (dhcp).

In cloud-init.log

2018-11-20 13:53:24,153 - util.py[WARNING]: No instance datasource

It reverts config as in here

3. then I found bug
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1439373#c5

and when "run once" I disable network config as in that comment.
Shutdown, Run (not once) and voila! Ip address are static!

"cloud-init used to use a "marker" file that it created on initial

- are it not working in ovirt/this cloud-init version ?

[ovirt-users] ovirt-host-upgrade failed on centos 7.5 host with new ansible 2.7.1+ and its default yum: dnf backend

2018-11-20 Thread Oliver Riesener

Hi,

i found an permanent updates avail on centos 7.5 host with ovirt
4.2.7.5-1-el7 and ansible 2.7.1+.

Background: ansible 2.7.1+ "auto use" the yum: backend.

The new avail backend and auto selected backend "yum 4" uses "dnf" and
didn't

recognize the attribute "update_cache: yes" in yum: ansible task.

 Solution:

* switch backend to old yum style.

# diff
/usr/share/ovirt-engine/playbooks/roles/ovirt-host-upgrade/tasks/main.yml.orig
/usr/share/ovirt-engine/playbooks/roles/ovirt-host-upgrade/tasks/main.yml

> use_backend: yum

* on ovirt node the file and the problem didn't exists.

best regards.

[ovirt-users] Re: ansible ovirt_vm_facts and custom_compatibility_version attributes

Some of VM attributes are returned via API only when there are some
values saved. That are for example all custom items in System section.

Right  from the APi description, it is available from the VmBase
struct, but I can't find it in the return ovirt_vm_facts value,
neither with nested attributes.

How should I do ?

Change the value to not null and then run ansible module to see them.

[ovirt-users] Re: [ovrit-users] Anyone with Fiber Channel oVirt Storage Experience?

2018-11-20 Thread Arsène Gschwind
We did a storage migration from a HDS to Huawei Dorado FC Storage.
We did import the new LUNs into the oVirt cluster and setup a new storage
domain with the new LUNs, then we did a live storage migration of all VMs and
finally removed the "old" SD and LUNs without disruption.
You could do the oVirt update before or after the storage migration.

We want to migrate our fiber channel storage with VM's intact from an

oVirt 4.1 environment to a brand new oVirt 4.2 environment.

We are using fiber channel via An HP MSA. I do not for see any issues,

but since we have never done it before, and we do not have spare Fiber

Channel storage to test with, we are just unsure of what the behavior
