Rebooting a host doesn't help, (I've tried that earlier) the only thing
that works is to stop all vm's, reboot all hosts at the same time and
start vm's again. Then memory usage shown in the dashboard slowly
increases over time again.

Maybe you could use ravello, it used to be more popular a few years ago.
e.g. a couple standard oVirt clusters.

Subject: [ovirt-users] Configuring Gluster Hyperconverged on Cloud

Hi,
I would like to do hands-on on Gluster Hyperconverged environment, and as per
my understanding compute and storage has to be on the same hosts. Since I don't
have physical infra to support such configuration, I would like to setup 3-node
cluster on Cloud e.g. AWS, or Azure.
I would like to know if I create an EC2 instance on AWS (or on Azure) with the
desired Compute, Storage and Network capacity, is Gluster-hyperconverged
cluster setup supported for such deployment ?
I am referring https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/gluster-hyperconverged/ for
this.

Thanks.

That’s only reporting 42G available of your 512, ok but something still using
it. Try sorting the top by memory %, should be ‘>’ while it’s running.

If I remember correctly there is no support/consistence for the L2 systems,
that are guests inside an L1 system that is migrated.
So perhaps this limitation drove to force host pinning and prevent having
unpredictable results for L2 guests

[ovirt-users] oVirt Nested Virtualization

2018-12-11 Thread Markus Schaufler
Hi!

I'd like to try the HCI Rollout
https://ovirt.org/documentation/gluster-hyperconverged/chap-Deploying_Hyperconverged/
 on my oVirt Infrastructure.
The hosts have "nested virtualization" active, but when starting the Hosted
Engine deployment from cockpit an the error "Hardware virtualization is not
supported on this host" occurs.

cat /sys/module/kvm_intel/parameters/nested
Y

Any ideas on this?

You cannot assign this role to the host interface directly, but to the
network, which is assigned to the interface, in

[ovirt-users] Running different minor versions in different clusters?

2018-12-11 Thread Florian Schmid
Hi,

I want to ask, if this is a supported Environment,
when I have for example the latest 4.2 version running on engine and all hosts
in a cluster have an earlier release of 4.2 running?

Example:
- ovirt engine: 4.2.7
- hosts in cluster A: 4.2.5
- hosts in cluster B: 4.2.7

The engine VM would run in cluster A with the older version.

I ask, because we have a very huge ovirt setup, split into different clusters.
In one cluster, I would like to have always the latest version and in the
others, the upgrade will be done in bigger time-intervals.

Sorry, I didn't try this myself recently and not sure about the details.

Obviously it should all be automatic.

Adding Simone.

I suggest to open a bug about this and attach relevant logs
(hosted-engine-setup logs, engine (and engine-setup) logs, vdsm, etc).
