[ovirt-users] Profile selection in VM portal for users

2019-02-10 Thread Jorick Astrego
Hi,

Wish I was @FOSDEM :'(  Next year...

When accessing the selfservice VM portal for users we wish to
disable/hide our admin management realm.

Is there currently a way to do this? We are maybe a bit paranoid but
informatie leakage can bite you in the ass.

We want to hookup Keycloak for the user portal and use the current ipa
authentication for the admins only

Met vriendelijke groet,
With kind regards,

Jorick Astrego

[ovirt-users] Why do users with UserRole see all VMs

2019-02-10 Thread Andrew X
Hi Everyone,

Whenever I add a new user and give them system permission with the
UserRole, they can see all VMs in the data center. I can only control what
VMs a user have access to if their role to access the system was set to
PowerUserRole.

I've tried this on fresh installs and still the same result - with both
internal and LDAP users.

Can someone help to let me know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.

[ovirt-users] Issue when adding new hypervisor to cluster

2019-02-10 Thread Jonas Lindholm
Background:
We had an issue when an operator decided to just install Windows on a running
oVirt hypervisor with VMs running.
Somehow the Windows installation somehow corrupted some of the storage metadata
for one storage domain (The storage domain could not be activated, activation
failed after ~5 minutes each time I tried).
I was able to move all disks on that storage domain except two to another a new
storage domain so all important data was saved.
After data was moved I removed the corrupted storage domain from the
cluster/datacenter with no issues.
I then destroyed the storage domain.

The existing hypervisors in the cluster can reboot without any issues with the
existing storage domains.

So far so good.

Issue:
However when I try to add an additional hypervisor to the cluster I get an
error referencing the corrupted storage domain (UUID is for the bad one that no
longer exists).
My question is where can the reference still be, in the DB or in any active
data structure the hypervisors are using?
if it is in the DB I guess some clever SQL statement might be able to remove it
but if that's the case I would need help with those SQL statements.

Thanks
/Jonas

Can you get a fresh Stretch VM working with networking that can ping out?
This goes on for ever. What can I do to make the VM work again ? I tried to

The VM contains debian 9 (stretch) with cloud init. Ovirt version: 4.2.7.5-1.el7

This is a CentOS question, not an oVirt one.

Last time we tried this, in-place upgrade didn't work well, so it's not
documented nor tested. But if you manage to make it work, upgrading the
oVirt engine inside the machine might work just as a normal upgrade (add
repos, update setup packages, engine-setup, update the rest).

One important issue is the PostgreSQL database. If you manage to upgrade
the OS in-place, this upgrade should hopefully upgrade your database as
well. But just in case, manually verify that it did.

Bottom line: It's safer and simpler to reinstall, unless you have some
concrete reasons (custom stuff etc.) that make it worthwhile for you
to try in-place upgrade.

Best regards,

The thing is that I just can't figure out where to place the following:

If I attempt to edit vm properties by using virsh and add these custom

Any suggestions?

Sure :) Are you setting UserRole on the actual System object? "System" is
everything, so that's not what you want.
Go to the specific VMs you want, Permissions, and add UserRole there.

[ovirt-users] unstable Ovirt Cluster

2019-02-10 Thread Boaz Yarom
: 1.0.7
hi,
We have a cluster of 20 hosts running ovirt 4.1.7 . And it became unstable.
the data is stored on an HP Apllo 4530, with freeNAS and a cahce drive
(optene) , a 10G network between hosts
the problems we see:
HE is jumping between hosts and crashes all the time, and even
more when global maintenance is disabled.
Another issue is that vms get cpu stuck messages. And hang for
10-20 seconds.
looking at freenas/apollo dashboards shows that it is fairly idle.
when global maintenance is disabled engine log shows it is restarted by
ovirt very often

any suggestions as for where / what to look for ?

4.1.7 is quite old -- it would be good to upgrade.

Can you share vdsm, ha-agent, and engine logs?

I believe you asked about this in July.

quoting Shirly:
"""
Some on the data is from engine db, which means its what is happening now -
The first row.
There is caching so it may take a few minutes to refresh or by manual
refresh.

Other widgets are based on the aggregated data stored in
ovirt_engine_history db (DWH).
The DWH widgets are based on the last 24 hours of hourly aggregates.

The over time chart under the pie chart should show you the average
consumption over time.
Please let me know or open a bug if you think there is an issue with the
current behavior.

By clicking on the widgets you can also get a breakdown for hosts and vms.

Did you choose to configure the engine VM with a static address or with
DHCP? if so, do you have a proper address reservation for that mac address?
 Is the DNS correctly working?

[ovirt-users] Re: unable to migrate hosted-engine to oVirt 4.3 updated nodes

2019-02-10 Thread Edward Berger
This has been fixed by finding the gluster volume(s) which were owned by
root instead of vdsm:kvm and chown-ing them to vdsm:kvm. Afterwards the
engine was able to be migrated and the gluster volume heal engine
operations were able to succeed.

[ovirt-users] Cannot assign Network to Mellanox Interface

2019-02-10 Thread cbop . mail
Hello,

I want to use my Infiniband Network for Storage Access, so I created a new
network and tried to assign it to a host. When I do this, I get a success
message but it's actually not assigned to my Infiniband NIC.

I'm running the latest CentOS with the latest Mellanox OFED drivers and
multiple Subnet Managers are running on the network. The NIC is a Mellanox
ConnectX-2 VPI, set to Infiniband mode.

I didnt't knew which logs to send, so when you need to look into a log, just
tell me which one you need.

I hope you can help me out.

2019-02-10 Thread darkytoo
Hello fellow Infiniband-er! I have a 3 node cluster with Connectx-3 cards
under CentosOS and it seems to be working well. One thing I didn't realhotize
is once I assigned it to the host, I had to edit it and assign the network
manually, otherwise it left it has DHCP, it never got an address (for obvious
reasons) and it stopped working. When I originally set the servers up, I
installed the infiniband support packages and I see them in cockpit before I
Actually assigned them.

2019-02-10 Thread cbop . mail
Hello, thanks for the answer!

I was missing that, I thought it would pick up the previously configured IP I
set in cockpit before I added the host!

But I also found out the main issue: it was set as a VM network. But I don't
know if that's meant to be like this or this is just a bug.

Now it's added to the host but I can't send traffic through it, not even a ping!

Have you some idea why it's still not working?

Yes… the BIOS updated solved the issue.

So always remember to update your BIOS.

2019-02-10 Thread darkytoo
You were just like me, I also thought it would pick up settings from cockpit,
but once I realized you had to configure the network again when adding to the
host, everything sort of fell into line. I would make sure and monitor the
networks so you can see the traffic going through the infiniband and not the
ethernet.
