[ovirt-users] Re: Ovirt storage domain ovirt-image-repository is unattached and can't use change CD to install windows on VM

2020-02-20 Thread eevans
This is what you should see if your images are uploaded and registered
properly. Notice the iso and vfd extensions. Vfd- virtual floppy drive. That’s
the one with drivers for windows and you need to load a driver in order for
windows to see the disk.

I posted in the users list about how to populate the ISO so it actually
functions as intended.

This may be common knowledge so if it is redundant, apologies.

My ISO domain did not populate automatically but with some research I found out
how to utilize it and populate it.

If you have it in place with the correct permissions and security, you can
manually populate it using the api.

>From the engine host at the command prompt:

# ovirt-iso-uploader list

This gives you the name of your iso domain. If it prompts for a passwd, it
should the the same as the admin@internal login.

The to upload files and populate it:

ovirt-iso-uploader -i ISO upload *.iso or *vfd for floppy images

Notice that if you are installing the VM from scratch it needs 2 things the
windows iso as a CD for the installation and the drivers floppy to be able to

It has been working fine until a couple of days ago when we had power outages.

How do i go about fixing this problem or where can i check logs.

I have checked the permissions where the ISO's or images are stored.

- Notice that we have a msi installer as part of the virtio-win package which
is available upstream, the installer fixes issues that we had with win10 and

2020-02-20 Thread eevans
Use the run once and in the boot section, chose the proper floppy driver image.
If you uploaded it to the ISO domain properly, once you check the box, you
should see the choice of which floppy to use.
The cdrom should be there as well. I loaded Windows 10 and Server 2016 both
with no issue.
You have to have the ISO domain populated and when you click on it in the GUI
you should see the images. If you don't see them, they are not uploaded and
registered correctly.

[ovirt-users] Spacewalk Integration

2020-02-20 Thread eevans
I finally figured out how to use Spacewalk as an external provider in Ovirt.
For the URL I used http://sat.digitaldatatechs.com/XMLRPC and used the admin
login credentials. It registered and Spacewalk has the capability of
provisioning a bare bones machine.
I have not tested provisioning but I will comment once I do.

Not sure if this has been answered or not.
Click on the unattached domain, go to datacenter and click on the datacenter.
Find the detached storage domain and click attach.
It should be fairly straightt forward as long as the storage is still
available. One issue I had was the nfs service wasn't running. Once I restarted
it, everything came back online.

libvirt stopped naming CPUs after IBRS, so anything newer is oVirt’s doing…ad
you need to derive that from the flags you see (and ideally from domcapabilties
instead of capabilities)
if you see md-clear and ssbd there then you can use the named type above

this is the docs:

just to notice on 4.4 we will have a GUI checkbox for
automatically attaching the drivers on the installation

The guest tools iso needs to be on an iso/data domain.
Notice that if you are installing the VM from scratch it needs 2 things
the windows iso as a CD for the installation and the drivers floppy to be
able to access the storage on installation.
 see:

Not sure what do you mean here, if you installed as the above
 procedure can you elaborate?

Hi,

Sorry for the delayed response...

After we migrated the gluster bricks to already upgraded nodes, everything was
fine and it seems the cluster is healthy again.

Thanks for the help!

[ovirt-users] Re: Ovirt storage domain ovirt-image-repository is unattached and can't use change CD to install windows on VM

2020-02-20 Thread Heinrich Momberg
Hi

Software Version:4.3.4.3-1.el7

Hi What i mean by it "doesn't pick up the HDD" is whenever i install a
windows instance. I get to the part of the windows install where you need
to select the disk to install it on... By this option i normally go to the
change cd option and select the ovirt tools and select the correct drivers
so it will pick up the HDD and i can continue with the installation. Now
that i cannot use the change cd option. i am not sure how i can install
windows without the option. I have downloaded the virtio-win-0.1.173_x86.vfd
and uploaded it through the GUI. I cannot select it if i go to the run once
option and tick the floopy disk it gives me nothing to select...

Hello everyone.
I intalled 4 node with hosted engine, everything works fine exept the
dashboard. it doesn't collect any data and is always empty of information.
searching around I found out that the problem could be the dwh service, inside

[ovirt-users] metrics-store installation

2020-02-20 Thread Christoph Köhler

Hello!

I have installed metrics store along this documentation:

https://ovirt.org/documentation/metrics-install-guide/Installing_Metrics_Store.html

Everything went fine without errors, so I have now the login page in my
browser. The Problem is that the credentials for login seems to be not
taken over. The user should be 'admin' and the password is given at the
beginning in secure_vars.yaml.

Does anyone have an idea what to do now?

Greetings!
Chris

Hello guys,

how can I get the correct CPU Family in a ovirt host?

When I execute virsh -r capabilities I get only "Broadwell-noTSX-IBRS" and not
the full "Broadwell-noTSX IBRS SSBD MDS"

Did you verify that a normal nested guest can get an IP address?

2020-02-20 Thread shawly
Still have this problem, log doesn't say anything but that it failed after
90 tries, no reason in the log.
Using VMWare Workstation 14, guest is running oVirt Node 4.3.8.

The guest tools iso needs to be on an iso/data domain.
Notice that if you are installing the VM from scratch it needs 2 things the
windows iso as a CD for the installation and the drivers floppy to be able
to access the storage on installation.
see:

Not sure what do you mean here, if you installed as the above procedure can
you elaborate?

- What is the engine version?

which is available upstream, the installer fixes issues that we had with
win10 and above
