It takes a very small amount of effort to do it one time using ssh-copy-id
but I suppose you could easily do it with Ansible too.

Did not install qemu-guest-agent in the guest? Is it
qemu-guest-agent.service running?

If you don't use snapshots or backup, and you don't need to know the
guest IP address
you can ignore this issue. Otherwise you should install and make sure the guest
agent service is running.

There are some dependencies mentioned in README.adoc.

I think most developers are using IntelliJ IDEA
https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/

But I don't think anyone is building from the IDE. You can build using:

make clean install-dev PREFIX="$HOME/ovirt-engine"

See README.adoc for more info on building engine.

Adding de...@ovirt.org since this question is not about using ovirt.

Looks like qemu crashed when stopping the backup.

Can you file a bug for this, and attach logs?

We these logs from host the vm was running on:
- /var/log/vdsm/vdsm.log (the right log showing the time backup was stopped)
- /var/log/ovirt-imageio/daemon.log
- /var/log/libvirt/libvird.log (may be missing)
- /var/log/libvirt/qemu/.log

Also the vm xml (virsh -r dumpxml vm-name).

I never had any issue with these version:

# rpm -q libvirt-daemon qemu-kvm
libvirt-daemon-6.6.0-8.module+el8.3.1+8648+130818f2.x86_64
qemu-kvm-5.1.0-13.module+el8.3.0+8424+e82f331d.x86_64

Looks like you run older libvirt version, but have newer qemu version.
Where did you got these packages?

Are you running on RHEL or Centos?

[ovirt-users] Re: how to fix time-drift on el8 hosts?

2021-01-07 Thread tfe...@swissonline.ch

We recently had a similar discussion in the Bhyve community.

The consensus was that it is not desirable to use both time sync
mechanisms in parallel: guest-tools and chronyd (or ntpd)

Now it would be good to know if oVirt-guest-agent is attempting to sync
the VM's clock with the host clock.

If so, it may be worth trying to disable chronyd/ntpd and see if the
time sync by the guest-agent does a better job.

In any case, the host's clock should be properly synchronized with the
real world time.

Kind regards

...this was sent under very different circumstances:) Now it seems to be an
easier call...

We will be probably moving to Stream a bit more. We did it already, but since
there was very little interest it’s not entirely working across automation, CI,
release processes.
It does depend on all the dependencies we consume so don’t expect it to happen
in a month, it’s probably going to take a while

To that note, there is also a possibility of oVirt on RHEL which some tried(or
even use). It was not very helpful yet because again the dependencies are not
really part of the OS and they are not being published in a way that we can
consume them. But if this ever changes, it would be a good option for stable
underlying OS and up-to-date oVirt….

You have to profile your users, depending on what you want them to be able
to do.
You can go to the landing page of many sensitive and critical

I have GlusterFS on the ovirt environment (production environment) and it's
serving several vital services. The VMs are running ok and I haven't noticed
any discrepancy. Almost a week ago there was a disconnection on the gluster

[ovirt-users] Re: OVirt 4.4.4 repository dependencies

2021-01-07 Thread Stolpe, Lars (VI-B11)
Ok, i‘ve found the problem. I did install ovirt-release44.rmp on RHEL7 for
copy/paste repo data into Sattelite Server, and the dependencies repo was not
installed. I did install on RHEL8 and all repos were installed.
Thanks for pointing out that in normal cases the ovirt-4.4-dependencies.repo
should be installed too.

ovirt-4.3-centos-opstools
ovirt-4.3-centos-ovirt43
ovirt-4.3-centos-qemu-ev
ovirt-4.3-epel
ovirt-4.3-virtio-win-latest

in OVirt 4.4.4 documentation it is mentioned to enable only this 3 repos
sudo subscription-manager repos --enable="rhel-8-for-x86_64-baseos-rpms"
sudo subscription-manager repos --enable="rhel-8-for-x86_64-appstream-rpms"
sudo subscription-manager repos --enable="ansible-2-for-rhel-8-x86_64-rpms"

ovirt-release44.rpm installs ovirt-4.4 repo

ovirt-release44 rpm enables ovirt and all the other needed repos.

I don't want to run into any trouble when i start upgrading, so are that really
all repos i need for OVirt 4.4.4?

[ovirt-users] how to fix time-drift on el8 hosts?

2021-01-07 Thread Nathanaël Blanchet

Hello,

Engine complains about my fresh el8 ovirt 4.4.3 node host:

"Host hadriacus has time-drift of 3202 seconds while maximum configured
value is 300 seconds."

I tried to fix it with these commands:

sudo chronyc -a makestep
chronyc sources
chronyc tracking

... but the host is still not synchronized.

How should I proceed?

Should RDMA be used inside the VM, or on the oVirt host directly?
On host level only IPoIB should work on CentOS 7 and on CentOS >= 8.4, RDMA
is not supported.
But it would be interesting to know if RDMA would work on a SR-IOV VF
inside a VM.
