Re-ran the timezone fix (/usr/share/ovirt-engine/dbscripts/engine-psql.sh
-c "update vm_static SET time_zone='Etc/GMT' where
vm_name='HostedEngine';") to be sure, then did a "hosted-engine
--vm-shutdown" and a "hosted-engine --vm-start" and it finally let me
update the cluster level.

end. I'm determined to make life difficult for myself by dumping a working 
Stream system in favour of a Rocky based system which I have a different 
deployment issue with!

can't connect to VM via VNC console in WebUI, an error message appears:

The short version is that you should always get a consistent backup,
but it depends on the guest.

oVirt does not use the “quiesce” option but it use the virDomainFSFreeze[1] and
virDomainFSThaw[2] to get the same results.

I think that Vinchin supports both snapshot based and incremental backup.

In snapshot based backup, oVirt defaults to freeze the guest file system
during snapshot creation, so you should get consistent backup.

In incremental backup before 4.5, oVirt also freeze the filesystems when
entering backup mode, so you should get consistent backup.

In incremental backup in 4.5 and later, oVirt creates a temporary snapshot
for every backup, and it freezes the file systems during the snapshot, so
you should get a consistent backup.

During incremental backup, the application can use the require_consistency[3]
flag to fail to the backup if freezing the file systems failed.

Note that in all cases, getting a consistent backup requires running
qemu-guest-agent in the guest, and proper guest configuration
if you need to do something special when fsFreeze or fsThaw are called.

We freeze the guest file system(s) without the quiesce option now (we
used to, long time ago), see:

Could you please try to set the HostsInReserve parameter of the
power_saving policy to 1? This should always keep 1 empty host (with no
running vms) to be ready in case the others are over utilized. If there are
more empty hosts, they should be put into maintenance or shut down, if
there is no empty host, a host should be put back online from maintenance
or down state.

consistency need to make snapshot with “quiesce” option.
What need to be done in order to activate this feature?

[ovirt-users] Power Saving Schedule

Hi List,

  I'm using the power_saving schedule to minimise the number of physical
hosts which works as expected when scaling in, however it doesn't appear to
ever scale out.

  I've tried setting the minimum and maximum RAM and lowering the HighUsage
(Utilization in American) percentage but it never starts another host.

  If I don't change the scheduling policy and manually start another host,
it gets powered off by the scheduler before any resources get allocated to
it.

  Am I missing a setting or is it just a MASSIVE flaw in the scheduler?
