[ovirt-users] Default template deleted - not able to create new VM

By mistake default template got deleted on Ovirt , now we are not able to 
select any template while creating VM.

Hi Experts,

We are integrating ovirt with our internal cloud.

Here we installed cloudinit in vm and then converted vm to template. We 
deploy template with initial run parameter Hostname, IP Address, Gateway 
and DNS.

but when we power ON initial, run parameter is not getting pushed to 
inside the vm. But its working when we power on VM using run once option 
on Ovirt portal.

I believe we need to power ON vm using run once API, but we are not able 
get this API.

Can some one help on this.

If I understand correctly you already created a template with the cloud
init configuration, then you created a VM from that template, and you
want to modify it and start it. In order to update the VM you need to
issue a PUT request, and the tag name for the host is host_name:

executed the first time you start the VM, so in your tests you will need

We see lots happening on Ovirt overall enhancement, but nothing could see 
on Ovirt reporting part.

Its very difficult to go with Ovirt without having visibility on resource 
utilization of each component in Ovirt.

Is Ovirt project in right path ??

[ovirt-users] No Good Reporting tool / option for Ovirt

Dear All,

We see feature wise Ovirt is competing with Vmware. But in Performance 
data collection / reporting Ovirt is really poor.

Ovirt reporting is never worked fine for me ( even Redhat report also in 
same state).

I am not able trend my Host. Virtual machine, network, storage 
utilization.

Even tried for Manageiq, but no luck, movement I add Ovirt with Manageiq 
Ovirt console work dead slow.

Any solution here, without this using Ovirt is really risk.

The engine is configured by default to use 1GB of HEAP. It won't take more 
than that, so it won't show as using too much memory on the system 
monitoring.
The engine log mentions OutOfMemory errors caused by excessive GC, and the 
Exceptions that follow are related to OutOfMemory situations - so 
increasing the HEAP size should assist you.

activity, which causes CPU usage to spike.

Even after restarting same issue continuous, just after restart CPU 
utilization goes 10% 20% then to 87% to 90%. Even we have added CPU and

I remember seeing such an issue with the alert log being too large and it 
causes some issues, although I think it didn't reproduce easily / fixed.
CC-ing Eli which handled a bug on that recently, although, iirc, it didn't 
reproduce.

In addition, we support in oVirt REST sessions, so it would be best for 
projects link manageiq to work with that, rather than authenticating every 
time they do an API request.
Alissa - can you check whether they use REST sessions or not? Also, do we 
have a contact there that will be willing to change that if needed?

Chandrahasa - I also asked what happens when restarting the engine. Did 
you try that?
