[ovirt-users] Problem with USB redirection

2015-02-24 Thread Juan Jose
Hello everybody,

I have installed a little infrestructure with ovirt 3.5.0.1 and I have some
Windows 7 VMs created and working well. From linux client, when I go to
user portal and open a VM (all these VM have defined in console USB
support as Native) and I plug a USB pen drive, the VM takes it and I can
use it from my Windows 7 VM.

But I have a problem with Windows 7 clients. When I try to redirect a USB
from my Windows 7 client to my Windows 7 VM the remote-viewer gives the
error USB redirections support not compiled in. Any suggest or idea about
what is my problem?

  Hello everybody,

I have added a new host to my oVirt 3.5.0 and it has been added but when
 the
installation finish the host remain in Not operational state. The
 error in
the engine.log file is that CPU_TYPE_INCOMPATIBLE_WITH_CLUSTER. The
 host
is a little old. I'm attaching part of the lshw host information and
 the
engine.log files. I know that this host is not able to virtualize 64 bits
VMs which it is possible to do it by the other four hosts.

I would like to confirm if the problem is what I'm saying.

 Seems so.

You can create a new cluster with a lower cpu compatibility level and add
 it there.

I used this gerrit page to install ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap and it

This is a read me that is also installed with the

Please check there iptables and /etc/exports, /etc/exports.d.

Please post the setup (upgrade) log, check /var/log/ovirt-engine/setup.

 Thanks,

Re: [ovirt-users] Problem after update ovirt to 3.5 (Juan Jose)

2014-12-16 Thread Juan Jose
Hello Nikolai,

Many thanks, my problem was the engine firewall, after upgrade the firewall
configuration dissappered. As I have ISO domain in my engine server, hosts
were not able to mount this ISO domain NFS resource because of the engine
firewall. I have configured again and now all is working properly.

Many thanks again for your help,

Juanjo.

 Hi Juan,
Looks like a bug connected to NFS mount, can you supply VDSM and libvirt
 logs?
Was NFS share active and up after upgrade?
Was all of your hosts at the same host cluster at the same VDSM version at
3.5 after engine was upgraded to 3.5?

 Thanks in advance.

 Hello everybody,

After upgrade my engine to oVirt 3.5, I have also upgraded one of my hosts
to oVirt 3.5. After that it seems that all have gone good aparently.

But in some seconds my ISO domain is desconnected and it is impossible to
Activate. I'm attaching my engine.log. The below error is showed each time
I try to Activate the ISO domain. Before the upgrade it was working without
 problems:

/etc/ovirt-engine/extensions.d/aaa/siee.properties:

After reconfigure my files with ovirt-engine stopped I have started
ovirt-engine and I have tried to log in. The error persist,
General command validation failure. and after that I have stopped
ovirt-engine again. I attach my engine.log file.

Many thanks again,

Juanjo.

Re: [ovirt-users] Adding domain to oVirt to 3.5 issue

2014-12-05 Thread Juan Jose
Hello Alon,

I have deleted Legacy domain with engine-manage-domain, and I have changed
configuration to absolute file name as you can see:

/etc/ovirt-engine/extensions.d/siee-local-authn.properties:

ovirt.engine.extension.name = siee-local-authn
ovirt.engine.extension.bindings.method = jbossmodule
ovirt.engine.extension.binding.jbossmodule.module =
org.ovirt.engine-extensions.aaa.ldap
ovirt.engine.extension.binding.jbossmodule.class =
org.ovirt.engineextensions.aaa.ldap.AuthnExtension
ovirt.engine.extension.provides = org.ovirt.engine.api.extensions.aaa.Authn
ovirt.engine.aaa.authn.profile.name = siee
ovirt.engine.aaa.authn.authz.plugin = siee-local-authz
config.profile.file.1 = /etc/ovirt-engine/extensions.d/aaa/siee.properties

/etc/ovirt-engine/extensions.d/siee-local-authz.properties:

ovirt.engine.extension.name = siee-local-authz
ovirt.engine.extension.bindings.method = jbossmodule
ovirt.engine.extension.binding.jbossmodule.module =
org.ovirt.engine-extensions.aaa.ldap
ovirt.engine.extension.binding.jbossmodule.class =
org.ovirt.engineextensions.aaa.ldap.AuthzExtension
ovirt.engine.extension.provides = org.ovirt.engine.api.extensions.aaa.Authz
config.profile.file.1 = /etc/ovirt-engine/extensions.d/aaa/siee.properties

I had configured relative file name because the example
/usr/share/ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap/examples/ad/extensions.d/domain1-authz.properties
has a relative file name.

I have done the same: delete engine.log, restart ovirt-engine and try log
in and the same error is showed, General command validation failure.

Attach engine.log file.

Thanks,

Juanjo.

Per my last message, you should provide absolute file names if you use
 3.5.0.
 Please see inline comments bellow.

Also, you are trying to authenticate with the legacy provider:

 not try the next server

Can you please use engine-manage-domains to remove the legacy (old)
 domain, so we reduce confusion?

 Thanks!

Hello everybody,

I will try this package shortly, but I would like to know why I can't use
my AD as I was doing in ovirt 3.4 before upgrade to ovirt 3.5. I have
executed kinit without problems after some modification in my
/etc/krb5.conf file, as I said in before mail but the error with portal
persists. Any suggestion?

Many thanks in advanced,

Hello Alon,

I have tried to find this package:

yum list ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap or yum list
ovirt-engine-extension-*

and always I receive: Error: No matching Packages to list

Is it possible that I need some special repository?

Many thanks again,

 Hi,

Lev, you are correct; there is nothing to install on the guest for Spice
 Native USB.

On the client side there is a need for remote-viewer to be configured with
 USB redir enabled,
and having access to the device (via libusb).
On a Windows client currently we use WinUSB driver to enable access to the
 USB device.
The driver can be installed using the usbclerk service or manually (e.g.
 with Zadig).
It must be installed for each device to be redirected.

On Ovirt, as mentioned, Native Spice USB option has to be enabled.
(This would also add the virtual usb devices needed on the
 qemu-kvm/spice-server side).

 Hope that helps,
Uri.

The user/admin only needs to properly configure the VM for Native USB
redirection and install the Spice client.

I forwarded the issue to the Spice team, they could properly point to the
 issue.

 Thanks in advance,
 Lev Veyde.

Hello everybody,

Ondra you are right, I removed the domain. I have already tried to execute

--user=Administrator --add-permissions
Enter password:
No user in Directory was found for Administrator@SIEE.LOCAL. Trying next
LDAP server in list
Failure while testing domain siee.local. Details: No user information was
found for user

the result to the command psql -U engine -d engine -c select * from
vdc_options where option_name='LDAPSecurityAuthentication' is:

psql: FATAL: Ident authentication failed for user engine

And for second command psql -U engine -d engine -c update vdc_options set
option_value='siee.local:GSSAPI' where
option_name='LDAPSecurityAuthentication', I receive the same response:

psql: FATAL: Ident authentication failed for user engine

Is there any problem?

[ovirt-users] USB redirect

2014-11-14 Thread Juan Jose
Hello everybody,

Is it possible to redirect USB with oVirt 3.4?, I have found this:

http://www.ovirt.org/OVirt_User_Guide#Using_USB_Devices_on_a_Windows_Client

but I don't know where I can obtain this usbclerk or usbredir driver for
Windows 7 clients.

Could anyone to help me in this, please?

Many thanks in advanced,

Juanjo.

Re: [ovirt-users] USB redirect

2014-11-13 Thread Juan Jose
Hello Michal and everybody,

I'm sorry but I have downloaded ovirt-guest-tools from URL you gave me but
the driver usbredir is not there. Is it normal or maybe it is in another
resource?

As the oVirt documentation says, when this driver is installed a new USB
windows service will be started in the client, but after execute the
ovirt-guest-tool setup and finish the installation there is not any USB new
service in my Windows client.

Is it possible that this usbredir driver is not in this ISO?

Many thanks in advanced,

Juanjo.

2013-06-04 Thread Juan Jose
Hello Jose,

We are using only with iSCSI and as I have said it's working very well. We
have three of this virtual servers that have the compression lzjb
activated. The ratios are:

Little server with Dovecot mail server has 21 GB and it has 8,6 GB real,
save 60% space
Little server with many log files has 11GB and it's using 2,2 GB real,
 save 80% space
Little Windows Server OS for FlexLM and other software license control with
15 GB and it's using 9,2 GB real, save 40% space

I hope this data are useful to you.

Thanks,

Juanjo.

 Hello Jose,

We also have FreeNAS working in our infraestructure, with about 3 TB and
ZFS. Some of the pools has compression enabled and you can save space with
it. We have this FreeNAS connected to a hypervisor Xen and it works very
well and it's stable and sure. We have nine virtual servers some
wirtualized and other paravirtualized, and some Windows Server machine all
about 2 years in production without any problem. My idea is connect this
infrastructure with oVirt wo be able to have some resources for test VMs in
that. Only wanted to share as another FreeNas success experience.

enterprise systems, though he is only able to do it once a month, because
that´s how long it takes for a scrub to complete in that system. So you´ve
got to choose performance or savings, you can´t have both.

And what about dedup of Netapp?

Much better implementation, in my opinion. You are able schedule
dedup-runs to go at night so your user´s performance isn´t impacted, and
you get the savings. The question is if you value the savings enough to
take on price-tag that is NetApp. Or just build your own FreeBSD/ZFS server

Everything depends on your needs, design planning. Maybe then sharing
disk would be better to share via NFS/iscsi. Of course if you have many

engine-config is getting the password from the same source where the engine

 Hey Everyone!

I solved it! I friggin solved it, and it didn´t have anything to do with
the spice-client, spice-plugin(ActiveX or XPI), or userportal
specifically, it´s in the engine itself! So Juanjo here said that it
works for him, and I took a guess that´s because he is only using
admin@internal mailto:admin@internal for testing (correct me if I´m

wrong Juanjo), so I added a UserRole to admin on a test VM, logged
into Userportal, clicked for console, and it worked! So, since our setup
is a little more complex, as it´s connected to our ActiveDirectory, I
concluded that it must be a permissions related issue. I created a new
UserRole, called ConsoleOwner that only have Login Permissions and
RemoteLogin and added that role to our engine´s System Permissions
on a directory group as broad as possible. After that if I also added
an explicit UserRole permission for a directory user on any VM now it
 works 100%. Me so happy!:)

A question goes out the developers: Should you have to do that? I
thought that permissions where supposed to be calculated like Windows
ACLs Effective Permissions, so that if I just add sufficient
permissions for a directory user on a VM, it´s effective permissions
should have granted the necessary abilities in the system, without me
having to first add that as a big system permission to have them
 granted? Bug, or intended?

Thank you so much Juanjo, for posting the versions you are currently
using that proved that it should work, and that it had to be something
else that prevented us from using it (which it was). Thank you!

can you please clarify again which permission you granted to a user on the
VM which didn't work before you added to the user the console permission?

Re: [Users] [Spice-devel] 3.2 final and status of spice console in ie

2013-04-11 Thread Juan Jose
Hello again Karli,

In this mail thread itself, David give me some indication about how I could
to debug my spice connection in the client looking at spicex.log or
installing debug-helper.exe. I try to search spicex.log and I tried to
install debug-helper.exe. Searching this debug application I found this
thread in u...@ovirt.org historical mail list:

http://lists.ovirt.org/pipermail/users/2013-January/011466.html

And as you see in the Itamar Heim response to Dennis Böck, the host has to
be accessible and resolvable and to have spice ports open to the client. I
didn't have my host, or node as you want name it, machine configured in the
client hosts file. I had spice ports opened, I only tried to configure node
hostname in the client host file and voilà, it works. This is all my
history. Of course, I have also the engine machine configure in the client
hosts file. I have this configuration because this both machines aren't
configure in my corporative DNS.

Again, I hope that it was useful.

Juanjo.

Ja, Ja, of course not, I have had a power failure in my test installation
and I have lost all my VMs and now I have already sent a mail to this list
to ask if it is possible to have some workaround about that because I'm in
a kind of loop. I can't Activate my Master domain storage because it is
empty and my Default Data Center can't be enable. In the other hand I have
in my Admin portal some Templates and VMs that they don't exist and I can't
delete because I need Data Center on-line.

I guess that I will have to clean DB o something like that. I'm waiting if
some king of workaround to this issue exists. If you now how to manage this
I will be happy to listen you, sorry, read you.

Many thanks in avanced,

I'm using oVirt 3.1. I have checked my storage domain and because a the
power failure that I had I have lost all my VM in the storage. Now I would
like to know how can I delete my VMs from Admin portal. For now it is
impossible because Default Data Center is down because I can't attach
Master domain. I'm in a kind of loop that I don't now how to fix. I guess
that it is necessary to delete VMs from DB directly but I'm asking if it is

Hello Itamar and everybody,

I have tested this Howto with a Windows 7 Enterprise edition client and IE

launched but after one second it close windows and don't connect to virtual
machine. I have oVirt 3.1 and I'm thinking in migrate my system to oVirt
3.2 but it will be nice to know which it is the reason because it doesn't
work. Some indications about what would be the problem will be wellcome.

If it is necessary some log I can provide it.

Re: [Users] Thin Provisioning

2013-02-21 Thread Juan Jose
Many thanks for your information Dafna. Quick Start Guide doesn't explain
nothing about this and I have follewed it to create the two VM, Fedora 17
and Windows 7, that I'm using to create Templates and when I have arrived
to this part I have found this problem. Now I know what is the procedure

Juanjo.

On Thu, Feb 21, 2013 at 2:25 PM, Dafna Ron d...@redhat.com wrote:

 Hi Juan,

I see what the issue is and it's actually by design.
The template you created has a Preallocated image.
in NFS, to make a preallocated image we actually write to the disk to
 make it preallocated.

as you can see, I created a vm with preallocated disk in NFS and if I
run DU during the creation of the image you can see the size go up:

 2.4G.
 [root@orion f1a6a2e7-38f1-4a7c-8f3b-efbca664d7aa]# du -h
 2.5G.
 [root@orion f1a6a2e7-38f1-4a7c-8f3b-efbca664d7aa]# du -h
 2.6G.
 [root@orion f1a6a2e7-38f1-4a7c-8f3b-efbca664d7aa]#

so in NFS storage, if your template is preallocated you cannot create a
thin provision copy vm (distinguishing between the actual data and
 previously zeroed will be complicated).
you can create a snapshot of that image which will be thin provision but
it will be linked to the template.
or you can create a thin provision template and than create a thin
 provision vm or preallocated vm.

 Dafna

In theory latest images position is referred also here:
 http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/WindowsGuestDrivers/Download_Drivers
(see also the notes section for different windows versions)

 and normally should be at
 http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/virtio-win/latest/images/bin/
that actually is the same link as the one posted by you

Since we use kerberos authentication, there are some configurations that
should be taken care of (have SRV records for the domain for
 both kerberos and ldap -
 check -

 dig SRV _ldap._tcp.your.domain.com
 dig SRV _kerberos._tcp.your.domain.com
 dig SRV _kerberos._udp.your.domain.com

You should also have a PTR record to your directory service machine.

You also need to have a time difference between your oVirt engine machine
and the directory service machine of no more than +- 5 minutes.

 Hope this helps out,

localhost and ovirtmgmt with the host IP. Is it that correct?
