[ovirt-users] import from vmware provider always failis

2021-08-04 Thread edp
Hi.

I have created a new vmware provider to connet to my vmware esxi node.

But I have this problem.

If I choose to import a vm from that provider, the process always fails.

But the errror message is generic:

"failed to import vm xyz to Data Center Default, Cluster Default"

I have tried to import both Linux and Windows Vms without success.

I can see that the import phase go on through importing virtual disk and then
when the import process comes almost to the end I get the generic error stated
above.

There is a place where I can see more detailed logs to solve this problem?

Thank you

I've been meaning to report this myself.

Find the location of the ISO image in the storage domain (search for the
UUID in the file system) and re-copy the ISO over the top of the file.
Just be 100% sure it's the ISO and not a VM disk (reference modification
time, size etc). Once you replace the "uploaded" file with the ISO
directly, everything works as expected.

The cause I've found is that when uploading through the UI, the *ISO
gets converted to a qcow2 image*, but *gets attached to the VM as an
ISO*. You can confirm this by using qemu-img info

Thank you.

I have to do this for example with sftp targetting the hosted engine?

I did this directly on the NFS server, but anything with the storage domains
mounted will work (so the hosts themselves should be sufficient regardless of
your setup)

[ovirt-users] boot from cdrom & error code 0005

2021-07-16 Thread edp
Hi.

I have created a new storage domain (data domain, storage type nfs) to use it
to upload iso images.

I have so uploaded a new iso and then attach the iso to a new vm.

But when I try to boot the vm I obtain this error:

booting from dvd/cd...
boot failed: could not read from cdrom (code 0005)
no bootable device

The iso file has been uploaded with success in the data storage domain and so
the vm lets my attach the iso to the vm in the boot settings.

Can you help me?

Thank you

[ovirt-users] Re: ovirt (two nodes & iscsi san)

2021-07-16 Thread edp
Hi.

You can close this thread.

I have solved for the moment by publishing the same san channel to both ovirt
hosts.

In the next future I then try to understand how can I use iscsi multipath.

[ovirt-users] ovirt (two nodes & iscsi san)

2021-07-14 Thread edp
Hi.

i am trying to set up an environment with two ovirt nodes connected to a san in
iscsi.

every node has a direct connection to the san (with a point-to-point
connection).

so every node talks with the san on a different iscsi channel with a different
ip.

in this case (i have just tried) when I shut down ovirt-node1 the ovirt-engine
cannot restart automatically on ovirt-node2.

maybe this because when I have configured hosted engine I have moved the engine
storage to the iscsi lun that only the node1 can see (the ovirt-engine-setup
asks for the iscsi ip address).

In this case how can I resovle my problem?

other than moving the ovirt-engine from one node to the other I have also to
publish other luns to both ovirt nodes.

but if every node talks only with one channel of the iscsi san I think that
this won't working.

If i put a 10 gb switch between ovirt-nodes and san channels can working?

what I would like to do is connect the two ovirt nodes to the switch and also
the two iscsi channels of the san to the switch.

in this way each node should be able to talk to the san on both ip (iscsi
channels)

thank you
