Hi, finally these are my steps to add a host to my cluster: - Install CentOS 7 minimal - Configure NTP (otherwise the installer stopped with an error) - Configure Network and DNS - Add the oVirt repo: yum -y install http://resources.ovirt.org/pub/yum-repo/ovirt-release40.rpm - Now add the host form the web management Thanks for your help and links to the resources. greetings gregor On 12/01/17 09:40, Simone Tiraboschi wrote: > > > On Wed, Jan 11, 2017 at 9:29 PM, Gianluca Cecchi > mailto:gianluca.cec...@gmail.com>> wrote: > > On Wed, Jan 11, 2017 at 5:50 PM, gregor <mailto:gregor_fo...@catrix.at>> wrote: > > Hi, > > I have a hosted-engine setup on one host. [ovirt-users] Migrate oVirtBackup to sdk v4: How to create a snapshot
Hi, I'm started the migration of my backup tool [1] from sdk v3 to v4. Whats the correct REST URI to create a snapshost from a given VM and how can this be done with the SnapshotsService.add(...) method? This method needs a "snapshot" object, but currently I don't know how to obtain one from a given VM or initialize one which works with the SnapshotsService class. A REST way will also be interesting because the Python SDK is horrible documented and I plan to move to basic REST. Also the Python SDK has lots of bug's which consumes many of the migration time. For example a obtained VmService object get by the VmsService.list(with filter) method has no information about the ID but iterating over all objects from list() without filter result in usable VmService objects. This will later be documented, meanwhile I wrote a workaround. cheers gregor [1] https://github.com/wefixit-AT/oVirtBackup ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users

Hi, The host are marked as up with two "Action Items": - A new version is available. - Power Management is not configured for this Host The update information seems wrong, because lately I installed updates with engine-setup and after this I updated yum like my other host. On the other host there is only the "Power Management" note. Re: [ovirt-users] Can't start VM after shutdown
Thanks for sharing the information's, I check the file structure and database entries. I had problems with too long names during coding a oVirt backup tool [1]. Here is a limitations list [2]. There was the problem that a Windows VM name can only be 15 characters long, others can named with 64 characters. Sound's bad. Recreating the VM is no way because this is a productive VM. [ovirt-users] kvm vcpu0 unhandled rdmsr
Hi, on one Host I get very often the message "kvm ... vcpu0 unhandled rdmsr ..." When this occurs some VM's are stuck. Really bad is this for an Windows Server 2012 R2 VM which stucks so heavy that the VM is getting corrupt and the VM is unable to boot anymore and a Windows Recovery in any way didn't help. Therefor I had to reinstall the VM, this works for some day's but now the VM is still damaged. So I can't use Windows Server 2012 R2 on this machine but the customer needs it and I have some days to ship it to my customer. So I have to decide to stay on oVirt or use another product. Besides, oVirt run on my others hosts (without Windows VM) very well since a long time. On a CentOS 7 VM I have similar problems where the NIC is getting offline sometime + the XFS filesystems get some errors and I have to fix this in recovery mode. oVirt: 3.6.4.1-1.el7.centos machine: HP ProLiant ML110 Gen9 VM's: 3 CentOS 7 and one Windows Server 2012 R2 I hope somebody can help. regards gregor ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users

Re: [ovirt-users] Python: Clone snapshot into VM
Hi, this was also an idea but with the single backup script you have the advantage of backing up more than one VM at a time to speed up the overall backup time and therefore to backup to different clusters and different export domains. But I will change the tool to set a list of VM's in the configuration to cover both ways. greetings gregor On 2015-09-18 07:50, Karli Sjöberg wrote: > tor 2015-09-17 klockan 21:24 +0200 skrev gregor: >> Hi, >> >> thanks, the tool is ready and online on github. > > Looks really cool. I can not add a logical network configured as VLAN to my ovirtmgmt interface, I get "Cannot have a non-VLAN VM network and VLAN-tagged networks on one interface." The setup for the Port is a trunk of different tagged VLAN's and the default VLAN1 is untagged. Normally this work under centos where I give the nic eth0 an IP and create a nic eth0.10 for the VLAN with ID 10 and set an IP for it. cheers gregor ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users
[ovirt-users] Automatically start VM after host reboot
Hi, I installed oVirt allinone, is there a way to automatically start certain VM's after the host reboots? cheers gregor ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users
[ovirt-users] Daily online VM backups
Hi, what is the best way to make daily backups of my VM's without shutting them down? I found the Backup-Restore API and other stuff but no running tool/script which I can use. I plan to integrate it into backuppc. Or is there any "Best practice guide for backup"? ;-) In the meantime I integrated engine-backup into backuppc as a pre-script. cheers gregor ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users
Re: [ovirt-users] New storage domain on nfs share
No, but only in the allinone installation. When I install only the engine, where I have to create a the cluster by my self, I can create a NFS Data. Another solution/workaround is to mount the NFS share in the underlying operating system and use this "local" folder. cheers gregor On 2015-08-30 09:49, Aharon Canan wrote: > don't you have an option to create data NFS domain? > > > > Regards, > __ > Aharon Canan > > ---- > > *From: *"gregor" > *To: *users@ovirt.org > *Sent: *Friday, August 28, 2015 8:37:59 PM > *Subject: *[ovirt-users] New storage domain on nfs share > > Hi, > > what is the right way to create a storage on an NFS share to use as data > storage for virtual machines? > > It is only possible to create a storage "ISO/NFS" or "Export/NFS" where > I can not create disks for a virtual machine. > > cheers > gregor > ___ > Users mailing list > Users@ovirt.org > http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users > > ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users
[ovirt-users] New storage domain on nfs share
Hi, what is the right way to create a storage on an NFS share to use as data storage for virtual machines? It is only possible to create a storage "ISO/NFS" or "Export/NFS" where I can not create disks for a virtual machine. cheers gregor ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users
