[ovirt-users] Re: Script for backing up VMs

2018-11-17 Thread Christophe TREFOIS
Hi,

We use this one but there are other ones around.

https://github.com/wefixit-AT/oVirtBackup

Most common seems to be people taking a snapshot, mounting it, and then dd /
rsync the content away instead of whole VM.

Cheers,

Subject: [ovirt-users] Script for backing up VMs

Hi All,

I love oVirt, have been running it for some weeks now. I have read the wiki
page on backups, and have set up an engine backup.
The backing up of VMs is where it gets more tricky. There must be more people
already doing this, but I just would like some script that takes my vm name as
an argument, and saves a backup (snapshot) of the vm.

If someone could help me, that would be awesome. If there is an even easier way
to do it (copying files on the FS itself?), that could be even better.

I know this question has been asked multiple times over the last years, but I
can not find an actual, working, documented way of doing this.

Thanks so much, and thanks for creating/maintaining/fixing/building oVirt!
Karlo
