[ovirt-users] vGPU on ovirt 4.3

2021-01-25 Thread kim . kargaard
Hi,

We are looking at getting some GPU's for our servers and to use vGPU
passthrough so that our students can do some video renders on the VM's. Does
anyone have good experience with the Nvidia Quadro RTX6000 or RTX8000 and ovirt
4.3?

Thanks.

Kim

[ovirt-users] vGPU becomes very inefficient when I use it in ovirt instead of qemu-kvm

2019-05-12 Thread weizhengya16
We distribute vGpu in order to use it in virtual machines. I find the same type
vGpu get differently performance in Ovirt and Qemu-kvm .

when I distribute a vGPU to Ovirt virtual machine,it's performance becomes very
strange. Some games can run efficiently and attach 200+ fps. However,in some
other games,it's can't even attach 10 FPS.
But in Qemu-kvm,the vGpu's performance always efficiently, can run these games
all in 200+fps.

I've been stuck with this for weeks and I have to make it always runs
efficiently. Can someone help me?Thank you very very very much

[ovirt-users] vGPU remote console problems

2019-02-12 Thread Edward Berger
A coworker and I are trying to bring up some nvidia vGPU VMs on ovirt 4.3,
but are experiencing issues with the remote consoles for both Windows and
Linux.

A windows10 VM for example works OK with a windows remote desktop client
after enabling the service inside the VM, but using the oVirt VM portal
spice/vnc seems to cause the mouse pointer to disappear and clicks seem to
go nowhere.

We're more likely to want linux VMs though.
CentOS not booting all the way to gnome desktop after installing the nvidia
driver.

What works well for you?
Are there known tweaks I should try to make?
Any helpful hints?

Thanks!

[ovirt-users] vGPU with NVIDIA M60 mdev_type not showing

But the issue is that when I do :

# vdsm-client Host hostdevListByCaps

I don't see any "mdev" device. Also the directory /sys/class/mdev_bus
is not existing.

Am I missing something ?

Cheers.

[ovirt-users] vGPU

2018-12-06 Thread 董青龙
Hi all,
I am testing vGPU in ovirt4.2. I have a nvidia p100 GPU installed in
the host and I have installed the correct dirver. I followed this
page(https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/install-guide/appe-Preparing_a_Host_for_vGPU_Installation/)
but I failed. In the "Host Devices tab" I got an device called "GP100GL [Tesla
P100 PCIe 16GB]". I could not find any device of "mdev type". Anyone can help
me? Thanks a lot!___

[ovirt-users] vGPU not available in "type mdev"

2018-11-27 Thread Marc Le Grand
Hello
I followed the tutorial regarding vGPU but it's not working, i i guess it's a
Nvidia licence issue, but i need to be sure.
My node is installed using the node ISO image.
I just removed the nouveau driver ans installed the nVidia one.
My product is : "GK106GL [Quadro K4000]"
My driver is : NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-390.87
In the host peripherals I see my card (pci__05_00_0) listed, but the column
"type mdev" is empty, as the doc says I should see vGPU i guess something is
missing.
I took a look, there seems to be nVidia vGPU copatible driver, but no trace of
it. The only vGPU stuff i found it's "NVIDIA VIRTUAL GPU" and i understand I
have to pay to use vGPU on my nVidia card.
is this correct or no ?
If i'm supposed to pay is there a free workaround ?
thanks for your help

[ovirt-users] vGPU VM not starting

2018-05-16 Thread Callum Smith
Dear All,

Our vGPU installation is progressing, though the VM is failing to start.

That's the specific error, some other information. It seems the GPU
'allocation' of uuid against the nvidia-xx mdev type is proceeding correctly,
and the device is being created by the VM instantiation but the VM does not
succeed in going up with this error. Any other logs or information relevant to
help diagnose?

Regards,
Callum

[ovirt-users] vGPU setup guide

2018-05-14 Thread Callum Smith
Dear All,

IS this the most current and useful example of implenting vGPUs in oVirt? I had
understood that 4.2 had NVIDIA GRID support as a flagship feature, but this
appears to be 4.1.4? It seems a very reasonable and decent guide, just don't
want to go down this route if there's alternatives now available in 4.2.x.
