The short answer is Yes, but this is only a short answer.

You can run both SOGo2 and SOGo3 on the same machine and on the same Database, 
but you can't install both from packages (one of the installation will have to 
be from source, which will not ease the maintenance...)
You'll also have to setup Apache so that the correct instance is called 
depending on a VirtualHostName for instance.

As far as I am concerned, I decided to install a new virtual machine, install 
SOGo2 from packages, and pointed to the common database used by both versions. 

Depending on how you setup the database connection it might be tricky to 
connect 2 instances to the same DB though. This is because the database 
connection URI is not only written in sogo.conf, but also in database records. 
So if you've used "localhost" as the target host for the database in sogo.conf, 
you'll have either to update each record in database with the real database 
hostname or to fake a local database by tunelling the database access from the 
SOGo2 to the SOGo3 server hosting the Database which could cause performances 
issues.
