Re: [SOGo] Attachments for appointments

2016-07-18 Thread Stephane Rouleau
Section 4.1.3 states that attachments SHOULD be external. If they are
internal ...

Inline binary contact SHOULD only be used in applications whose special
circumstances
demand that an iCalendar object be expressed as a single entity.

The following example specifies an "ATTACH" property with inline

   binary encoded content information:

 ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/basic;ENCODING=BASE64;VALUE=BINARY:
  MIICajCCAdOgAwIBAgICBEUwDQYJKoZIhvcNAQEEBQAwdzELMAkGA1U
  EBhMCVVMxLDAqBgNVBAoTI05ldHNjYXBlIENvbW11bmljYXRpb25zIE
<...remainder of "BASE64" encoded binary data...>

Fact of the matter is, people have been spoiled by Outlook, and it's just so
much easier to attach meeting documents to the meeting invite.

That's pretty much the only thing I'm missing from my Outlook days.

Ah, thank you. That provides me with strong ammunition to fight

thank you, but -- bad. I won't get our office workers to upload the
attachment to web space to insert the link into the appointment.

@inverse: Are there plans for server support of attachments?

Hello

That is right, and intentional.
Even the standard discourages the use of binary attachments in events.
Just think of mobiles, which have to synchronize those on every change
of the event.

Therefore SOGo only supports URL attachments.
They can point to every file space you have access to.
I know of people using ownCloud, FTP servers or even Alfresco for
storage of such files.

hello,

as far as i know, it's only possible to add an url pointing to such an attachment - an ownclod link for instace.

Hello,

we'd like to use attachments (doc, pdf etc.) in our appointments.
Is that possible with SOGo? If not, which workaround would be best
practice?
