autowhitelist off but used?

2013-07-04 Thread 1611mac
I inherited this site/email system in which autowhitelist had been running but
spam and ham never properly marked so I believe all email to be
"auto-whitelisted."\\
I turned auto-whitelist off with: use_auto_whitelist 0
However, I found this in a header: -4.4 AWL AWL: From: address is in the auto
white-list
Why is AWL still being evaluated? I can confirm that
/spamassassin/auto-whitelist file stopped updating when I set the user spec to
"0"

warning at startup Argument "0.70_01" isn't numeric in numeric

2013-07-02 Thread 1611mac
Hello,
SA (3.1.1) is running on my shared server account (HostGator) -

When I start SA from the cpanel I receive this warning:
Jul 2 12:37:19.789 [12601] warn: Argument "0.70_01" isn't numeric in numeric
lt (<) at /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/Mail/SpamAssassin/Dns.pm line
645.

Can anyone help? Any ideas? Is this warning something I need to worry about?
SA is not working very well for me.

"Sanity Check" these results please..

Hello,
We send about 6500 emails to a list about 5 times a week. This is primarily
outgoing info and we do not expect a lot of return email. These mailings have
been going out since 2009. Being somewhat new to this company, I had never
seen mail coming back into the list address. I became acutely aware of a spam
problem a few days ago. Ratio of spam to valid emails is un-believable.

Today we have received three (3) valid emails while we have received 91 pieces
of spam, a lot of it foreign.

We're on a HostGator shared server with cpanel and SA 3.1.1.

Some SA detail: Prior to today I had changed/added these user prefs:
required_score 4
ok_locales en
score CHARSET_FARAWAY 9
score CHARSET_FARAWAY_HEADER 9
score UNWANTED_LANGUAGE_BODY 9

However, I've had 19 spam emails delivered with a spam score of zero (0).
Strangely.. I setup a forwarder to send mails to my personal server and my
personal address and the spam flagging is much, much, better.

Simple question Is that typical performance for SA? The spams seem
"obvious" to me and it's hard for me to believe that SA doesn't get some hits
on the mail piece...
