Good morning list.

I am having issues with SPAMD just dying and no info being shown in the logs to help troubleshoot.

The map file is either not there or not complete.

Try by using the map.txt shipped with your version and do:

$ cd you_dcc_dir
$ rm map
$ cdcc "new map; load map.txt"

Type cdcc stats to check if you've any answer from the public servers.

Hope it helps.

DCC seems not be configured yet.

If you plan to use the public servers, do this:

cd $DCC_HOME (where dcc resides)
cdcc info > map.txt
cdcc "new map; load map.txt"

We're using this patch on two Linux servers of a four machine cluster
running 3.0.1. We don't have memory or swap problems, but the patch
appears to have eliminated a problem we'd been encountering since
upgrading to 3.0.0: a few times a day each machine would have all its
children die around the same time and become unresponsive for long
enough that some messages (enough to generate complaints, I don't have
numbers) would pass through unscanned.

Each machine in our cluster currently handles on average 20 messages per
minute with peaks around 60. With 1 GB of memory in each server, we
aren't touching swap even though we're using the same machines to do
ClamAV and j-chkmail miltering for most of the campus.
