Hi Navneet,

It looks like you have issues with your account credentials. Did you try
Forgot Password link to reset your password?

As I see you use Codesion service, you might have to raise a ticket here
to seek assistance from Cloudforge folks.

 I've also tried
 deleting .subversion directory on server and in windows
 C:\Users\rkapur\AppData\Roaming\Subversion as well.

This is unnecessary on the server and even on your client won't change
anything because you didn't successfully logged in and therefore no
credentials are saved yet.

 I have also tried putting rkapur user in those files and tried but
 I get same authentication error.

What did you exactly put where? It should be enough to change passwd,
print it's contents with your user rkapur added. You may have a syntax
error or something. After adding rkapur = xyz in paaswd you should be
able to login with rkapur and xyz as password.

 I am able to work in SVN 1.2
 version (in different box) but with newer SVN 1.6 or 1.7 I am
 getting this problem. I am sorry I am sure its my mistake somewhere
 but don't know what it is.

Are you sure you connect to the proper repo? In your login dialog
another realm is mentioned than what you quoted from you config:

Authentication realm: svn://172.20.212.6:3690 repo3_realm

vs.

realm = My First Repository

Check the server log file to see why authorization failed. You may first have

Thanks Thorsten and Ryan. I have turn on the logging and now on server itself I
issue the following command:
 - svn co svn://192.168.4.64/home/RKapur/repo3

I see this in the sever log file:

Also when I said the above command - svn client side communications is as
follows:

[rkapur@nyc-devhieapp01 client]$ svn co svn://192.168.4.64/home/RKapur/repo3
Authentication realm: svn://192.168.4.64:3690 repo3_realm

ATTENTION! Your password for authentication realm:

can only be stored to disk unencrypted! You are advised to configure
your system so that Subversion can store passwords encrypted, if
possible. See the documentation for details.

You can avoid future appearances of this warning by setting the value
of the 'store-plaintext-passwords' option to either 'yes' or 'no' in
'/home/RKapur/.subversion/servers'.

Now 1) as you see above it always challenge me for rkapur password - I think
its because first I login this linux box as rkapur and then did su -
some_other_user - so therefore its always somehow ask me for rkapur
password. After then it ask me for username for which then I said harry and
the default password as in the file. I am sure I typed in correct password as
in file but still gives this error. Thanks for your help.

Don't use autz-db until your problems are solved and I would suggest
to activate anon-access, too, just to get at least one successful
login.

 3) passwd file
 [users]
 harry = harryssecret
 sally = sallyssecret

What are the file permissions of passwd and under which user is your
svnserve running? Maybe it's just a permission problem on OS level and
svnserve can't read it's configuration files.

 as it appears that rkapur is the user that I am logged in to this
 linux machine so somehow svn client asks me for that user's
 password. When I give it - it ignores and ask for username and
 password

Which is totally correct if the first login attempt fails.

 - which I gave as harry but I still get Authorization
 failed ? do you think it has to do with some permission because its
 not authentication error its authorization error. Any where I should
 look at or how to increase more logging on server side?

The authz contents doesn't lead to error messages, meaning
directories in your repo which you don't have any access to are just
ignored, wouldn't be able to checkout anything, wouldn't see all revs
in the logs etc. But I'm not aware of error message because of
forbidden paths. I would check file system permissions to your config
files for the repo and if svnserve can read all of them. Even try to
allow anon access.

unable to login to svn repo

2012-07-23 Thread Kapur, Rajneesh
Hi,

I would really appreciate if someone can help with this simple creation of
repository and accessing it. I am unable to login to SVN repository and keep
getting Authorization Failed error message. Thank you.

C:\Program Files\CollabNet\Subversion Serversvn co
svn://172.20.212.6/u01/app/repo3
Authentication realm: svn://172.20.212.6:3690 repo3_realm

Authentication realm: svn://172.20.212.6:3690 repo3_realm
Username: harry
Password for 'harry':
svn: E170001: Authorization failed
---

All I did was very simple steps as follows:

1)  svnadmin create /u01/app/repo3

2) The content of file svnserve.conf are:

[general]
anon-access = none

auth-access = write

password-db = passwd

authz-db = authz

realm = My First Repository

[sasl]

3)  Contents of authz are:
[groups]
harry_and_sally = harry,sally
# [/foo/bar]
# harry = rw
# joe = r
# * =
[repository:/u01/app/repo3]
@harry_and_sally = rw
# * = r

4) Contents of passwd file are:
[users]
harry = harryssecret
sally = sallyssecret

Environment:
