Daylight Saving Time Impact
Hello: As you are aware Beginning in 2007, DST will start the second Sunday of March and end on the first Sunday of November. Does TomCat v3 or v5.5 impacted by Daylight Savings Time change ? If so, then are there fixpacks / patches available. Daylight Saving Time Impact
Hi all, Is there going to be an impact on Tomcat due to Daylight Saving Time Change in US? Currently, I am using Tomcat 5.5.17. I am wondering if I need to upgrade to the Tomcat 6. Thank you in advance. Joe

Does > TomCat v3 or v5.5 impacted by Daylight Savings Time change ? Haven't seen any code in 5.5 that "knows" when the changeover is; that information is provided by the JRE. Sun has announced which levels of its JVM support the new changeover, although that may need further updating when other countries match what the US is doing. Can't speak about other JVMs. Tomcat (not TomCat) version 3? "Surely, you can't be serious." - Chuck THIS COMMUNICATION MAY CONTAIN CONFIDENTIAL AND/OR OTHERWISE PROPRIETARY MATERIAL and is thus for use only by the intended recipient. Re: Daylight Saving Time Impact
Tomcat doesn't track DST begin and end. That's taken care of in the JRE or JVM. Take a look at you Java vendor's website (Sun or IBM) for support. --David Ranendra N Ghoshal wrote: Hello: As you are aware Beginning in 2007, DST will start the second Sunday of March and end on the first Sunday of November. Your Java version and operating system version will need to support the daylight savings time changes (which were not only in the US, by the way). well I know that no one/nobody asked me what my opinion is as to whether or not you should try to obtain tomcat 6 but I would say to you "yes" regardless of whether or not there is any looming big time change or not! For production use, you might want to wait for it to be judged stable - so far all the TC6 builds have only made it to beta. - Chuck THIS COMMUNICATION MAY CONTAIN CONFIDENTIAL AND/OR OTHERWISE PROPRIETARY MATERIAL and is thus for use only by the intended recipient. This might be of interest in figuring out what jre/jdk you need to handle the Daylight Savings Time change: http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Intl/tzupdatertool.html Tomcat itself relies on the OS and JRE/JDK for time zone handling and as such doesn't have to be updated. --David Leung Joe-W30220 wrote: >Hi all, > >Is there going to be an impact on Tomcat due to Daylight Saving Time >Change in US?
