I do not have the Standalone directory you are refering to on my server,
but I do have a tomcat work Catalina localhost 'application'

No don't delete the 'work' directory, delete your application directory
(with old name) from

tomcat work Standalone localhost 'application'

Delete your application, it should then work.

I just saw something. When I deploy the application under a new name,
the following directory gets created (containing a lot of .java and
.class files)

/tomcat/apache-tomcat-5.5.17/work/Catalina/localhost/myapplication/org
/apache/jsp/jsp

If I do the same with the old name, the directory does not get created.

(PS. I also have a 2nd application deployed, so I cannot remove the work
directory, etc. completely)

RE: Deploying under 1 specific name doesn't work

2006-05-24 Thread Dirk Moolman
If I deploy the war-file under a new name, a directory

/tomcat/apache-tomcat-5.5.17/work/Catalina/localhost/newname/org
/apache/jsp/jsp

gets created. If I do this under the old appname, the
./org/apache/jsp/jsp directory does not get created (even if I
physically remove all the directories under the old name)

If I manually copy the files in this directory from the new name to the
old name, the app under the old name starts up ok. Is this a bug in
Tomcat ?

Dirk

(cp /tomcat/apache-tomcat-5.5.17/work/Catalina/localhost/newname/org
/apache/jsp/jsp/*
/tomcat/apache-tomcat-5.5.17/work/Catalina/localhost/oldname/org/apach

I have a very strange problem on a new server. We deployed an
application successfully. After that we even redeployed the
application
a day or 2 later, after making some changes.

We have now made some more changes, and this time the war file does
not
want to deploy properly (it deploys actually, but the application does
not start up) - and here is the strange part. If I RENAME the war
file,
and deploy it, it starts up perfectly - only under the old name does
it
 not want to start up.

What could be causing this ?

The main question everyone is going to have is how are you deploying it?

I have a very strange problem on a new server. We deployed an
application successfully. After that we even redeployed the
application
a day or 2 later, after making some changes.

We have now made some more changes, and this time the war file does
not
want to deploy properly (it deploys actually, but the application does
not start up) - and here is the strange part. If I RENAME the war
file,
and deploy it, it starts up perfectly - only under the old name does
it
 not want to start up.

What could be causing this ?

No don't delete the 'work' directory, delete your application directory
(with old name) from

tomcat work Standalone localhost 'application'

Delete your application, it should then work.

I just saw something. When I deploy the application under a new name,
the following directory gets created (containing a lot of .java and
.class files)

/tomcat/apache-tomcat-5.5.17/work/Catalina/localhost/myapplication/org
/apache/jsp/jsp

If I do the same with the old name, the directory does not get created.

(PS. I also have a 2nd application deployed, so I cannot remove the work
directory, etc. completely)

I do not have the Standalone directory you are refering to on my server,
but I do have a tomcat work Catalina localhost 'application'

directory. I tried deleting this and deploying again, but this
unfortunately did not do the trick.
